General - fitting split universal cv boots - octa
has anyone any advice/comments on fitting split cv boots?.is it advisable to clean joint with methlayted spirit before applying adhesive?.

The advice I would give is not to use split CV boots ...

Use the stretch CV boots ... Get the size for your car ... there are 2 sizes of cone ... use the lubricant that you can buy at the same time as you buy the boots ... coat the cone liberally with the lubricant turn the boot outside in and it slides over the cone quite easily ...

About twice I have had to use the split boots and one was split at the join at the next MOT time ... If you have to use them ... Just clean off the excess grease ... to use the super glue just do 1" at a time and hold it for 30 seconds each time ... and leave it for 2 hours before fitting to the joint.

I have never had any long lasting success with split boots, so I can't recommend them.
