I am in a quandary. 2 year 25'000 service for my 04 Fiesta. Local Bosch independant is charging me £74.43 including VAT for the service if i bring my own parts (25 pounds for genuine ford filter and 5W30 oil). Local Ford dealerships are quoting me between 140-220 pounds for the same service (they supply parts). Now my mind is devided (well more than usual), i don't plan to keep the car for more than a year more, i.e. sell at 3 years, and hence would like maximum resale. Would the fact that this service is not "ford stamped" make about 150 pounds worth of difference in a year or not.

Just seen an LHD demo our local dealer has in to tout business for July's RHD release. The word that springs to mind is "Presence". Alright, it's a Chelsea Tractor, but it's very well proportioned. They obviously haven't gone for the ground clearance of the Cayenne/Touareg, but it makes for a (for road use) more businesslike looking package.

I saw one on foreign plates in Liverpool last week.
It looks much better in the metal than the photographs I've
seen. It certainly does have presence and I'm sure it'll
snatch sales from the Range Rover, X5, ML, XC90 etc.
..there sure is a heck of a lot of choice in that sector now, and all the time the tide is turning away from such vehicles.
From todays Honest John's column, Daily Telegraph
"Really seeing something
A few weeks back, a yellow, high-visibility jacket arrived at my house, complete with carrying bag. It arrived out of the blue, compliments of Renault UK. I have driven a Scénic for the last five years and love it to bits, so perhaps this is a vote of thanks for my loyalty. Whatever, it is very welcome.

Honest John reply;
That is a very smart idea of Renault UK. Help keep your customers alive, then you have a better chance of repeat sales."
My comment;
It may be the sceptic in me, but perhaps so many Renaults are breaking down at the edge of the road, they now need to issue these jackets??

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
Over the past couple of weeks it?s been slowly getting hotter and hotter. It?s nearly 6 years old, I?m guessing it needs re-gassing. Will my local little Peugeot franchise be able to do this and how much will it set me back?

grill which I have to flick once the engine is on.

I've just had a look in my Haynes. Looks straightforward and gets a three spanner rating. As suggested by sierraman, the nut you can see on the top mount releases the assembly from the inner wing, then once removed from the car, there is another nut to remove (having compressed the spring).

It's part of the instructions on how to get to a property, in an estate agent's brochure. I'm not going to view it, but what does "swagging" mean?

I've always known it as a burglar's ill-gotten gains or, alternatively,
to walk in an arrogant or cocky manner as well as
to lurch or sway whilst walking.
Surely that is swaggering.

>>Technology consultancy Antonov is to demonstrate its two-speed supercharger system at the Engine Expo in Stuttgart next week. This system, the first such supercharger design to go into production, is claimed to enable power and performance gains that allow for the fitment of smaller engines, and to be affordable enough to fit in mainstream vehicles.
Antonov is also to demonstrate its supercharger at the Zandvoort race circuit, the Netherlands, a week later, fitted in a Mercedes and a Ford Mustang. It expects to sell the device as an aftermarket product for tuners and modifiers, but is hoping to supply it to manufacturers for production vehicles.>>
You can just imagine all the C2s and Saxos now supercharged.

If boy racers start fitting aftermarket superchargers to Saxos, Corsas etc., there'll a lot of blown engines in more than one sense....BANG!!!!
Dear Backroomers, I wonder someone can help me (DVLA guide has confused me) I am considering getting a moped for the 17mile trips to work and back to cut down on costs etc for fuel and insurance (yay)
As I understand, as I've passed my test back in Dec2000, I am not required to do a CBT, right?
What I am lost at, is what limits can I use? - or is it just the basic 50cc bike? with or without leaner plates?
Thanks

My dad's just had his Rover 75 CDT chipped to 150ish BHP, reports it now goes like the proverbial off a shovel.
He's also had my mum's 1996 2.5 diesel auto Range Poser chipped but not told her! He said that it's now a wonder to drive, so if you have either of those cars, it's worth the money. ;) Read more
After talking to those awfully nice people at Daimler Chrysler Insurance (and ringing back and confirmining it) they have told me that as long as I don't increas the BHP of my car over the 340 BHP of the 5.7 lt V8 Hemi they will NOT INCREASE MY PREMIUM by 1p.
Given that my car currently gives out 215 BHP I have plenty of scope to play with things.
They had no interest at all in the torque figures.
The chippping job that I am (mabye) fancying is going to come from Startech, with is a division of Brabus, which is a division of Daimler Chrysler. Once Daimler Chryler UK have approved it (as Daimler Chrysler Europe have), it will also leave my warranty intact - oh happy days.
The BHP goes up from 215 to 260 and the torque from 510nm to 560nm.
Given that the car is "adequate" in the performance stakes already, a litle bit more will add to the fun.

Ford recommends any 5w30 semi-synth that meets their spec. If Perrys get Shell Helix cheapest thats what they use. I think HJ says that Texaco Havoline is repackaged as Ford Formula E but i don't know. Only reason i use it is that it is cheap and can be picked up while doing the grocery shopping.
