Anyone used this and is it worth purchasing?
Car feels a bit sluggish and listening to the benefits of pouring a bottle of this in it sounds like it would improve my car for not much investment.
worth a punt? Read more
Prompted by Perfections post: Why do manufacturers still make SDi engines?
Are there practical advantages, or are any reasons purely fiscal/non 'real world?
Or is it just a case of 'why not?'

As someone who has bought both in a VW
SDI = Suction Direct Injection (good mpg as 75 hp but s l o w up long hills)
TDi = Turbocharged Direct Injection (less economical but quick even as 100ps)
hi there - I'm on my works laptop sat in my car on a country lane right now in a Mondeo 2.0 TDci 52 plate.
Was driving home quite oblivious to the world when I lost acceleration for a couple of seconds and the Glow Plug Indicator Light (the orange coil that goes out wen its ok to turn the engine on) came on - its flashing just the once and it feels like I've lost the fuel injection ooooomph factor.
Am I safe to drive home or should I call the AA out? I've looked up the meaning of this light in the owners guide but all it says is it could be Injector Pump Relay or Fuel Fired Heater but it doesn't say what to do if it comes on or which flashing rythm is which!
HELP! can anyone advise me as Im stuck here and I wanna go home for mi tea!
cheers
Patricia

mydas - this is an old thread, but if you have flashing glow plug light on a Ford diesel it's worth having the EGR valve checked out. Easy job to DIY - search online for the problem.
You can clean them, but a new one wouldn't break the bank and you can blank them off to prevent future problems....
Folks,
Any recommendations on steering locks? Which one is currently regarded as "the best"?

What makes me laugh,is many of these so called locks are actualy fitted to older cars, normally you would expect these to be fitted on newer cars.
frustration in the end,to rubbish people, that tries to steal car gives rise to destruction of vehicle, in many cases of not being able to drive car away.
so I wonder if these are worth spending money on,at the end of the day if the car is not nickable, it seems to these scroats that do so, destroy the car because they cannot drive it.
Am I wrong in thinking this way?,as its fairly common where I used to live

Hi there,
I'm looking for advice regarding "superchipping" my Renault Trafic 1.9 DCI 100PS.
Will it improve my van's performance with regards to fuel economy and increased BHP???
Are there any downsides to ECU remapping??
And who would you recommmend to do this??
Look forward to any replies!!! Read more
As I have said with a 70 limit in the UK there is not much point but here in Germany there is no holds barred.<<
Performance isn't measured solely after 70mph.
I have posted previous messages regarding to a Bora, but now I might consdier a Polo. But not sure which one is better for motorway driving (15K miles a year). Bear in mind, economical is paramount. The Polo is about £2500 cheaper than the Bora, so I'm really up for it and also it's small and easy to park.
So which is better 1.4 TDi or 1.9 SDi?

It's probably the switches inside the door lock mechanism, using the key might tell you which one has the fault, here's a direct link to a guide on the fault, and how to repair it:
www.taligentx.com/passat/maintenance/doorlockmecha.../
NOTE: "Time Required: 1.5-3 hours, depending on individual pace." Bank on 5 hrs for a Bora, unless you're quite handy/well practiced with that sort of thing...
Have just looked at my 4 to 5 year old Conti Eco Contact tyres and they have tiny crazing/cracks in the walls as if they are perished especially near the rims. Do modern tyres perish ? should I be worried ? Read more
The car is regularly garaged and so avoids UV embrittlement.
Another good reason to take all the rubbish in the garage to the tip, and keep the car in the garage.

L\'escargot.
Wonder if anyone might be able to help.
I haven't really used my air con on my Primera (1997 2:0 petrol)for the last few months and now it doesn't work at all. When you press the switch the light comes on but there is no clunk from the engine/increase in revs. I checked the relay which didn't appear to be doing anything, and so with the air con switch pressed, bridged the terminals that it switches. This did produce a clunk, increase in revs and switched the air con cooling fan on, however, still no cold air.
I've done quite a lot of work over the last few months including changing the clutch and am wondering if I may have disturbed some electrical connections somewhere. I assume the relay is not switching in for a reason. Could it be simply empty of gas (which the system knows and hence does not switch the relay) or is there something else a miss? Any pointers on electrical connections to check or other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,

Just thought I would post the conclusion to this one.
I got the air conditioning refilled and was told that there was hardly any refrigerant left in it at all. The guy said that it had passed a vacuum test but that it could still have a leak. Sure enought it had stopped working the next day.
When they refill the air conditioning they also add a dye which shows up under UV light through special glasses. I took the car back and the leak could quite clearly be seen coming from a pipe which had been rubbing against the engine bay and worn through. The pipe was welded, the system refilled and it all works fine now. Total cost £47 x 2 for the refills and £30 to repair the pipe.
Many thanks for everyone's help.
FWIW, I used Cataclean on a P-reg Subaru Impreza Turbo that failed the MOT emissions test. The MOT station recommended I try Cataclean, so I sourced a bottle elsewhere and it passed the emissions test. It was very pricey, but it worked for me.
