vectra 1.8 front spring removal - marty
hi all
have got a broken front spring and would like to know how easy it is to remove the strut and change myself have had a look and it looks like a nut at the top of the strut and 2 bolts at the bottom apart from other bits attached. could someone let me know if this is the correct way. i can change the sprin ok once i get the strut out.

I do not know the Vectra but there are usually some bolts holding the assembly to the inner wing or a large nut sandwiching the I/W between two plates,then another nut holds the top plate on the spring.I presume you know you must use spring compressors when dismantling.

Keep well away from the nut on top until you have proper spring compressors. The stored energy can be massive.

A Haynes manual (or other similar manual) would help immensely.

I've just had a look in my Haynes. Looks straightforward and gets a three spanner rating. As suggested by sierraman, the nut you can see on the top mount releases the assembly from the inner wing, then once removed from the car, there is another nut to remove (having compressed the spring).
