Hi,
If anyone could provide me with some advice or information regarding an issue, I’m currently dealing with would be very appreciated.
Back in January of this year, I accidentally scraped the side of my friend's mothers car. I was reversing backwards and miscalculated the distance between the two cars and caused minor damage to the car. This all happened on her driveway at her home address and the car was stationary at the time.
During this occurring, my friend saw it all occur. Immediately apologised for for to d to his mum, she was very understanding and accepted my apology. I spoke with her and told her I would pay for any damage caused.
I thought she would have contacted her Insurance straight after the incident or got a quote of how much the repair would cost, but nothing happened from that moment. I didn’t contact my insurance as I thought she needs to contact hers as damaged was on her car.
Fast forward 7 months now, I got messaged by my friend that his mum is due to get an upgrade / new car and they got a quote of £500 from her insurer for the damage caused.
I am concerned that I will get in trouble or difficulty with my Insurance provider as to why didn’t contact that immediately. My friends mum contacted me that she’s looking for a cheaper quote to get the car fixed. I haven’t been in touch with my Insurance I was waiting to hear back from them and then contact my insurance.
I’m just so confused about how to deal with the issue. I’ve never had to with insurance before regarding damages caused to a car or an accident. This my first ever dealing with an insurance company
I’m just worried I can’t sleep well it’s affecting me quite overwhelming. I don’t want to break any laws by this whole situation.
I’m still in my first year of driving I don’t want anything to affect my clean license.
Kind regards

The collection of cars and spares amassed by a former garage owner in Louth are the subject of an online auction today/tomorrow. It shows you can have too many projects. I am down to one motorcycle and one car which is probably enough!

The registration no. itself might account for most of that, perhaps if someone with those initials wanted it. JFW was also a local Lincolnshire registration.
Looked the registration number up on the vehicle enquiry website. The number isn't recognised....
SP: Hourly rates, the excesive hourly rates are to provide the rubber plant, comfortable seating, free coffee, papers and many staff that main agents have. The info I got from my local VAG dealer is anything registered before 2009 is a 4 year change and anything after is 5 years (on my 15 Passat it's 5 years/150,000 miles). If you let VAG change the belt/tensioners etc they give you a 5year warranty on the work. I have seen some motoring sites imply that it is 4 years across the board for a change but VAG were quite definite that that only applies to the pre '09 vehicles.
It is a very simple matter to fit a temperature warning system to show a driver that his/her DPF was actively regenerating, so best not to switch off the engine, but that would not go down too well with harassed mums delivering their little darlings to the prep-school.
Is that really the best answer you could think of for them not fitting a warning system? Read more
Re : Scratching the surface That question sounds a bit fishy, do police normally send cars and officers to houses after minor bumps in supermarket car parks? I thought the police were underfunded and understaffed. I agree with your advice, which sounds sensible, but it also sounds like there is more to this story. I would just that if you engage a solicitor, it might be worth asking ASDA (or the car park owner) if they have CCTV coverage of the area.

Bought a new watch 29 December 2018, Tissot Powermatic 80, £361 in the sale. Well respected seller with a well known web site but they do have a few branches one of which is only about 15 miles away thus I collected on 03 January 2019.... Read more
Items bought in a sale are still covered by consumer law: the customer is entitled to a refund or compensation EXCEPT if the item has an obvious defect that was pointed out at the time of sale (for example, if you buy an item like an ex-display TV that has a large scratch or chip on the casing which was pointed out at purchase, you can't later try and get a refund because of the scratch / chip. But if the same TV develops another fault, you can get redress.)
2009 we bough a brand new Sony TV for Tesco in their sale. The model had recently been superseded but it had received tops reviews and at the price it was too good to miss. Add to that they gave us £100 PX for an old black and white set out of M & D's loft, no idea if it worked, they bought it in the 70's....
My in-laws are looking to buy a seven seater auto as a family runaround. The choices are Toyota Innova, Rush or Avanza.
Favourite is the Innova 2.8 Diesel auto. Bearing in mind there are no motorways where they live, although it’ll probably have a couple of 60Km round trips every week, are they likely to have DPF problems. I believe all new cars there now conform to Euro 4.
I have posted this question on “The largest motoring forum in the Philippines” but gassing on forums doesn’t seem to be much of a thing over there. You can almost see the tumbleweed blowing through most forums, so I’m not holding my breath waiting for any replies.
Thanks for any advice

Thanks for all the replies.
So in the end he decided to go for the Avanza with a 1.5 petrol engine. Probably just as well really.
So I put some pads on my car as the brakes were juddering when breaking hard and the pads that were on were worn down to the metal. Drove it about 500 miles to bed the new pads in and obviously as I hadn't slammed on the brakes during the bedding in period, it was then that I noticed they were still juddering. I've since replaced the discs but I'm currently using the same pads.
The drivers side is fine, but the passenger side, only some of the pad is actually being used which I'm assuming is down to uneven wear caused by rubbing against the warped disc. Will this unever wear go away as the brakes are used or would it be best to put new pads on? Like I say, I only did about 500 miles on the pads before changing the discs, Read more
New discs are cheap these days, if you can wait and take advantage of special deals you can get really good quality parts like Brembo/Apec for the same price as unheard of job lots from the usual auction sales sites.
If there's an appreciable wear ridge or a number of wear grooves in the disc then i will always renew the discs at the same time....
She has not contacted her insurance company. She went to private damage and repair company who gave us a reasonable quote to get the damaged fixed.
And yes as it’s my first year of driving it would have caused so many issues for me. It’s all been resolved and I have made payment for the car to be repaired.
It’s a learning experience and I have learnt a lot from this.
Thanks for the advice and information.
