Quick heads up message for anyone planning to drive through Kent, there are multiple roadworks taking place over the next few weeks, including some road closures too. (Especially at weekends). This is in addition to the Brexit related lane and speed restrictions London bound on the M20 in the Ashford area. Saturday was chaotic, for some journeys took hours!!
Check online maps before you set out on your journey.... Read more
The Aston Martin Lagonda was my first choice, but then I came across this clip, presented by the late, great Tony Bastable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukDK7hwjQjc

Here is another entry, the Rumpler Tropfenwagen. This mad looking thing in 1921 had more efficient aerodynamics than the much vaunted Audi 100 of 61 years later!.
Got in my 3 week old Rifter this morning to go to work and have no display on the touchscreen.
The radio is working as is the USB input (music on a memory stick) however, there is no display, none of the other functions are available as the screen isn't working and my music has started playing in alphabectical order despite me having it on shuffle.
Anyone experienced this issue on their Peugeot and know how to resolve it? (Obviously taking it back to the dealer is the obvious one, but it's Sunday!)
Many thanks. Read more
As you already know its a reported known firmware bug with the NAC unit, take it back its under manufacturer warranty.
It doesn't affect every PSA Peugeot / Citroen product with NAC, seems to be an odd bug....
On HJ column this week owner of an 10 month old S5 has had 3 lots of brakes due to so called overheating of the discs. The audi dealership reckons his brakes have heated up to some 231 degrees! and blame his driving for this, and refuse to help him anymore.
HJ suggests that when he comes to a stop he sits on the brakes causing the discs to warp because heat in them cannot disperse.... Read more
If your car has fuel injection rather than carburettor(s), if you roll down hill in gear with foot off the accelerator, the ECU shuts off the fuel completely.
If you coast in neutral, it will feed fuel to the engine to keep it running, so use more fuel....
I was passing the Toyota dealer today and saw that they had a 2019 Camry in stock so I have been waiting to see one so I popped in.First impressions were good.It looks very handsome but on closer inspection I became less impressed. The centre console bin moved when I opened the lid and it seemed to flex excessively. When the drivers door was open, you could see the wings bolted rather poorly and badly finished.
I spoke to the salesman who went on to tell me that only 400 are being imported into the country and the price is £32,000!.
If only 400 are coming in then I would be worried about getting spare parts for it in the future especially if you had an accident and needed body panels.
The Camry is also only available in saloon form which seriously puts me off buying one as I have used the hatchback space quite a few times and wouldn't want to compromise with a saloon.
So overall very disappointed with the Camry.I for one won't be buying one and i think they will struggle to sell it at £32,000. Read more
While i do think Toyota will struggle to find private buyers in badge and image obsessed Britain, don't think they will have too much trouble finding 400 company car drivers wanting to both benefit from the low tax, and opt out of the Audi/BMW/Mercedes marry-go-round!.

Possible a leak on the brake servo. There should be a hose leading from the inlet manifold to the brake servo, if you block or clamp the hose it should help your troubleshooting.
DON'T drive it with the hose clamped as the brakes will be very firm!
Hi,
I know nothing about cars but the other day had to put in a new battery into my S Type Jaguar after googling how to do it. However there was a tube connected to a plastic part that went into the old battery that I now know was needed to release gasses. I still have the tube but the plastic part that was in the battery that the tube connected to I no longer have because I disposed of the old battery.. Could anyone tell me what that piece is called and where i can buy one please? I've googled and can find no mention of it anywhere. It just looked like a hollow white plastic tube coming out of the battery that I presume the rubber tube connects to.
Thanks for any help. Read more
The S-type replacement, the XF, also had a vent pipe. I guess the thought was that as the battery was not in the engine bay, there would be a risk of hydrogen building up in the cabin.

Was driving behind a BMW X4 this evening and I was thinking this is one ugly looking rear end to the point where I wanted to vomit then it pulled over and I went round it and saw the front in the mirror and I wanted to vomit some more.
Whilst I am over exaggerating I did think to my self what an ugly looking car and then I realised that money cant by taste. ... Read more
For complete ugliness nothing beats the German 1951 Hoffmann. Google 'Hoffman car' and you'll see what I mean. Possibly Herr Hoffmann was having a laugh and decided to break every rule of automotive design that there ever was.

20 minutes in a taxi, 2 hour 20 on a plane and I'm 1,000+ miles away in the sun.
With fuel at €1.55 diesel and €1.70 petrol it becomes very expensive to drive in Italy with exchange rate of almost 1:1.
