Hi all

been to look at a Mazda 2 1.3 petrol 2013 today;tidy, smooth, genuine car;test drive revealed road/tyre roar that we decided we couldnt live with;had 17"alloys and 45profile tyres;i wondered if swapping to smaller rims and larger profile would solve it;salesman didnt think it would improve the matter much;views much appreciated.(shame as i think it could be a good car).... thanks for the replies, don't think we'll pursue this one;model was the TAMURA and believe the alloys were std spec;sorry i only rememered the profile as it was much smaller than we've had on our cars.think salesman said some of the models had 15" steels rims with trims.I wasn't looking for a mazda 2 in particular, just saw it and thought genuine car.Wasn't cheap, but good enough to get some economical motoring out of it.Anyway Mrs not dead keen on it,so we try again. Many thanks again.

I’ve been dutifully putting my keys in a lidded tin each night to stop someone nicking my car. Can’t fit them all in the pouch that I bought. Thought I’d test it last night. Car still recognised keys in tin but not the pouch so I’ve been wasting my time for six months ?? Read more

There are two factors going against you with teh steel cash box. Firstly, the steel will have fairly low conductivity and secondly it is ferromagnetic. An aluminium box would most likely provide adequate shielding.

Avant seems to be confusing driving pleasure with image. Many manufacturers, especially Ford are going to give you far more driving pleasure than Audi.

There is more to 'driving pleasure' than simply how well it handles. Audi's have that all important 'feel good'* factor or showroom appeal, which for someone who spends most of their time driving in town, is going to give them way more driving pleasure than spanking the car over a twisty coutry road. And whlle the OP may not be in that position, the mileage mentioned suggest most of the time will be spent pounding up and down the motorways, in which case refinement, ride comfort and seat comfort will be much more important than handling ability....

The fuel filter case doesent have a bleed screw. I think it would be time consuming to put ignition on/ off since the filter in not conected to tank retun line

Ahh the dartford crossing it's a magical place where there are no tole booths yet the traffic has got worse since their removal.

Going south, so using the bridge, it's definitely better since the tolls went. Obvs really; no need to slow down and fanny about with card/coins. ...

My Kia has just failed its MOT on emissions - no doubt like many others recently - garage said it came back as 4 on the test (seen a limit of 3.0 mentioned on some posts) - the garage said they could add cleaner but it would not get it under the limit and it needs a new filter which would be over £1000 plus possibly injectors at £600 - and even then it may not fix the issue. Have i got any hope of giving the car to one of these DPF cleaning companies (Halfords do it i've seen) or is this reading way of the scale and I may as well scrap the car as its only worth £2500 - its worth more to me on the road so willing to gamble up to £300

tthanks for any advice Read more

With a fault in the system , or the yellow plug disconnected, an error code should be logged. With the plug not connected, there is a gold short circuit bar that connects both pins together that should flag a fault back to the airbag ecu. From your description, there could be a fault in the wiring , or somebody has interfered with the wiring to falsify system function. The only real way to check it , is to verify continuity of the wiring from the airbag module to the seat . Access to the module , located under the handbrake, is not easy . The seats and carpet , trims will need to lifted. Mini do a modified wiring loom for the under seat connectors because they were continuously troublesome.

They could start by actually issuing fines; I get to school early most afternoons, and Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, it is the same diesel loving parents whose cars/MPVs/vans are left running and spewing out pollution for 30-90 minutes for no obvious reason.

Had one today, windows wound down, so cant use aircon as an excuse; gets out and looks at phone; then starts moaning the battery is 1%, so they werent charging it; so WHY leave your engine running, DIRECTLY outside the school gates for 30+ minutes?? Read more

There's another (recent) article on this site about the fall in the number of traffic police. How is the government going to 'crackdown' when drunk driving road deaths are up and so is the number of drivers using a hand held mobile phone. "Government crackdown" - it's all a PR stunt. Nothing will come of it.
