Hi,
I have a 2004 Volkswagen Sharan 1.9 TDI SE that I did not use left on my driveway for 2 years. Just been so busy that I didn't get to it until today.
Well obviously the battery was totally dead so I put a new battery in today and I tried to start the car but I get a red error message on dashboard saying STOP check coolant. So I checked the coolant reservoir in engine bay and its empty.
I had no problems or leaks with the car when I parked it up 2 years ago when it had mot then.
Shall I assume that just by filling the coolant reservoir the car will start afterwards? Otherwise can a diesel car standing for 2 years cause coolant to vanish?
How many litres of coolant does my car take and what type of ready mixed coolant shall I buy?
Apart from coolant what else shall I consider looking at for a diesel car standing for 2 years? Read more
My lad has a 14 reg 3series and the rear window only moves an inch at a time when operated Same with drivers switch and passenger rear switch. Tried resetting as on older models, What would be the likely cause, motor is obviously working of sorts or teeth on motor or regulator? Rear window hardly ever used. Read more
Window mechanism motor may need re-calibration. However , this may only be able to be done via the diagnostic system.
I have a VW Polo which has done 30,000 miles from new and the GoodYear EfficientGrip tyres are down to 3.5 mm on the front and 4.5 mm on the rear. The legal limit is 1.6 mm but it seems that most agree that 1.6 mm is not safe. Some think 3 mm is the ideal replacement depth.
So, I'm thinking of doing 10,000 more miles by which time the rear should be down to 3.5 mm, and the front about 2.5 mm, and replacing all four corners. In my experience the rear are the more important. I'm a pretty sedate driver, although that does not account for any other muppet on the road. Thoughts? Read more

Hi,
First time posting so hopefully in the right place. We recently bought a used Fiesta from a dealer and once home discovered a couple of issues. I accept that we should have noticed before leaving the dealer, but regrettably we didn't so just wondering what other's thoughts are on where we stand. ... Read more
A fog light can break from one second to the next. If you didn't notice it at the dealer's, the chances of them replacing it are fairly low.

Thank you.
We're off to Italy at the start of next month and I hadn't even given any thought to restrictions. A quick Google reveals there are many schemes - I'll have to have a look in more detail - maybe tonight over a glass of Chianti. Got to get in the swing of it!
In an idle moment at work, we were discussing the best-selling cars globally, and it prompted a bit of digging.
In the USA, the Ford F-150 series of trucks is far and away the biggest selling automobile (as well as being one of the biggest automobiles). In 2018, Ford sold over 900,000 F-150 variants. Over nine hundred thousand of just one range of vehicles: I found this quite staggering. ... Read more
I think that the best selling model in the world (certainly of all time) is the Toyota Corolla .
The Corolla sales figures are just of a nameplate. There have been many versions some of which were RWD and later ones FWD. The only thing in common was the name. The Corolla is not like the VW Beetle or the Ford T which were basically the same machine over a long period of time albeit with refinements along the way.
Unsurprisingly, BP Garages were about 4p/litre more than the Supermarkets and on top of that selling BP Ultimate diesel at £145.9/litre as of 26th June.
Yes, I've noticed the standard fuel prices coming down, but not BP Ultimate by more than 2p at best.
Good job Ye Olde much maligned Golf 1.6TDI can still get 60mpg..!

Hi,
Is there a website that requires no registration where you input the car number plate number to get details on screen like?:... Read more
Pretty random - someone just posted it...never heard of them before so random to me
Not really sure what your point is. The OP asked for a website where the reg number of a car could be entered and you'd get details of its engine size and power output, the link i posted does so. No, it may not list every car on sale current or past, and the info may not be 100% accurate for every car listed, but for the most part it is. So if it answers the question the OP asked, how can it be random?. As for your not having heard of the company, that is neither here nor there....
