Agree with your view of the e class. Found my son a 2007 E320 CDI facelift model and it really suits me. No Dpf. Sunroof Harman sound system and comfort. 40 mpg. Found a MB independent in Northampton who looks after all the taxis and he really knows his stuff and has all the Star software and a supply of scrap cars to try out expensive electronic parts to prove a fault. Just need a clone !Here’s how to do it correctly. Do your homework, find the least likely version to give grief, buy a good one with excellent history but only do so if there’s a good local specialist to keep costs down. I’d take a Merc over a BMW as a used buy but I’d still favour a simple petrol engines Jap over any prestige brand if the budget is limited.

Although most Vauxhall radios are coded, they usually self start up after the battery is reconnected and then relearn the code from the car electronic memory. However , to get the code for your radio , you would need the model type and serial number. Vauxhall use many different makers of radio.

They are well corroded , but not bad enough for an mot failure, unless they are cracked or breaking up. Very likely to be ok on the brake rollers . However, I’d like to see the other sides , they could be a lot worse.
I could have pretty much guaranteed those would have failed an MOT in Edinburgh in the 80's / 90s, because I ALWAYS failed an MOT for rusty brake disks in Edinburgh in the 80's / 90s, even though they passed the brake function test, and had been replaced for the previous MOT.
This was my main reason for thinking the MOT was a bit of an arbitrary rip-off charter. Don't miss it at all....

Not the first time that Ford has launched a product prematurely. The Mk5 Escort as I recall was launched despite their own engineers saying the suspension was not fully sorted (changed from the earlier fully independent to a torsion beam rear axle). It was slated by reviewers and took a few years to sort out. It was a case study in how bad news gets diluted by layers of management managing upwards. ...
I'm not sure what to do as I've been out of the country for nearly six years and sent a Sorn in before I went away. My car has been garaged the whole time and on checking the DAVLA database it's showing up as not being Sorn. I just wondered why my options are. Any advice would be greatful. Read more
