Some folks had their cars for a very long time which I think is great. I'm coming up to 4 years now on my 2012 SLK 250d and don't do many miles since retiring so hope to keep it for a long time. People I know are paying a lot for PCPs...think thats right..when you pay monthly and after your time is up give it back or pay to keep it, wouldn't suit me but each to their own. Financially hanging on to your car has to make sense.
I had a flat battery and requested a friend to jump start for my car. His car was a 3L E class mercedes. i mistakenly connected the jump start cables wrongly and only noticed when the cables became hot. I connected them correctly but still engine wouldn't start. I now decided to place the battery on charge and started the car the following day. what i noticed immediately was that the the hazard lights, turn indicators and boot would not open. the key fobs do not work and i just think something major has happened. Please i need help here as i might be facing a hefty bill here. Thanks Read more
Highly likely you've blown the rear SAM (Signal Acquisition Module). Even if you can acquire a used module, it will still need coding to the car so you'll need a good MB independant if you don't want to visit the main dealer.
I note my car has a service interval of 10,000 and 20,000 miles. Had the car serviced this spring, I do about 3,000 in the car, when do I need to service it next 3 and a half years time :) Read more
Sounds like your metal may have been coming from the oil pump.
I took mine apart but couldn't see anything wrong with it based on what I could see and measure with feeler guages, but the casting voids in the mounting pedestal were completely full of thick sludge, though the rest of the engine seemed pretty clean....
My Toyota has air con, when you switch it on you can hear the revs on the engine rise. I am not sure of increased fuel economy as I only owned it for a short whille... Read more
The sensor for outside temperature is (probably) not exposed to sunshine, thus a reasonably accurate figure. The interior of the car is, essentially, a glasshouse with lots of radiated heat from body panels, etc. And exposure to the sun. So the climate control will have to work hard to keep the interior temperature at your required 20 degrees.

I have a 61 plate seat ibiza 1.4 sportrider. Today i have noticed a strange humming like noise when idle or slowing down and the speeding up? Also when idle the car sometimes vibrates/shakes? Its just recently been Mot’d and had its brakes fully replaced . I ha e no clue re cars and just wanting some advice to what this might be ?

Why are there speedlimits anyway? I am allowed to drive at 60mph on a single carriageway road with no protection from the traffic traveling in the other direction, so 60mph in a contraflow is clearly safe as a driver. For the workers, any vehicle doing in excess of 30mph will kill them if they are hit, so any speedlimit in excess of that won't save anyone.... What Highways England need to do is organise their roadworks properly. Just because they are at some stage over the next 2 years going to be, say, putting in a section of so-called managed motorway over a stretch of 20+ miles does not mean that the entire stretch has to have a 50 limit on it for the entire period. You can only realistically work on about 2 miles at a time, so work on that, get it complete, then move on to the next 2 miles stretch!
I suspect they really mean its a supposedly non-interference unit not designed to ever have the fluid changed. Shame the design, like VAG's dry clutch, seemingly wasn't up to the job of working that reliably way long term.
