Hi - my question is in relation to my nephew who purchased an Audi S1 back in October on a PCP.

He's a bit of workaholic (strange for a 19 year old) and has saved more than 15% for a house deposit, but, because he has a car on PCP, all the mortgage companies he's tried have said no. Their reasons are all the same, you cannot have the extra burden of debt whilst you still have a car on PCP.... Read more

Hello,

I am looking at buying an Audi A3 mainly due to its build quality and the reliability and economy of the 1.9TDI engine, which seems to have been used from 04-07. This same engine seems to have been modified to a 1.9TDIE around 2008 and has a lower road tax then the older generation I assume this is because it's had a DPF fitted? ... Read more

Hi - My 2000 Ford Ranger has a 75A alternator part no WL81 18 300 - what I am wondering is, can I install a 70A alternator part no WL91 18 300? Will the lower ampage make any difference? Read more

Can’t see that being a problem. 5 amps is a minimal difference

I was wondering if anyone has had experience of using super unleaded fuel in a small turbo engine.

did it run smoother, accellerate smoother or go quicker ?... Read more

I don't know that engine in detail but it more than likely is equipped with a knock sensor that supplies data to the ecu which advances the ignition timing to the preset point that the sensor can sense knock and then retards the timing a tad on a dynamic basis that is always varying according to load and rpm. With 98 instead of 95 the timing can be advanced more before the sensor knock point, which results in a bit more power and better economy.

I suspect they really mean its a supposedly non-interference unit not designed to ever have the fluid changed. Shame the design, like VAG's dry clutch, seemingly wasn't up to the job of working that reliably way long term.

Only worth spending time on if it is in unusually good condition and you want to keep using it. It's unlikely anyone else will.
