After spending several months considering options for replacing my current Yeti I thought I'd post up my thoughts on ~120k miles / 5 years owning 3 Yeti's.

Thanks for that review.

Currently driving a Roomster which was a bit of a distress purchase when a 10yo/155k miles Berlingo I'd hoped to take to 200k+ miles suffered a power steering failure - £1k possible repair bill. I'd probably have stuck with Citroen and had a C3 Picasso if their salesman had not been untruthful/incompetent over whether it had the 16valve 'diesel of doom'. ...

Any rough ideas of cost? Can it be done DIY? I'm ok with the spanners, it's just the specialist tools needed probably....

Had the car three weeks. Just taken it to a hand car wash cos it was dirty. They used a plastic blade thing to swoosh water off the roof and bonnet. Now I have three deep scratches on the roof of about a meter each and a 30cm deeper scratch on the bonnet. It's a solid red car and it's down to the white primer.

Gutted. I preferred it dirty and unruined.... Read more

I'd heard similar in that they use neat traffic film remover which is very acidic. This softens the paint and lacquer which they then blast off with a high power jet wash.

Hence why you see a lot of cars with patchy paint with the lacquer peeling off now.

I'm currently looking at getting a dash cam and as this is all new to me thought I would ask for some recommendations from folk on here.

I'm not keen on sucker mounts and would rather have an adhesive mount that stays permanently on the screen. ... Read more

About 4 Transcend Pro 200's in service in the family cars, none give any trouble, a little larger than some but tucks behind the mirror on most cars out of the way, the trouble with extremely small cameras is setting them up without a magnifying glass unless you have the eyes of a hawk, which most mature people don't.

However the one in my car only holds the date/time stamp for about 48 hours where the others retain the info for at least a week or more no trouble without being powered up, these have a diode not a battery back up, the one with the problem is the first one bought, but there is a new model out now with battery back up too though quite a bit more exensive....

Go back 30+ years and the roads were much more pleasant, no one had these super bright lights ...

I do have the benefit of not having to wear glasses or lenses for driving and I actually prefer the new lighting technologies with their bright blue/white projections. Oncoming (dipped beam) dazzle has never been a problem for me in 51 years of driving. My solution is to look through & passed the oncoming lights rather than directly at the them. That way I find there is no 'recovery time' necessary. I have friends who wear glasses for driving and a couple of them have said that they find the new lights disturbing so I have every sympathy with those drivers experiencing difficulties. Read more

I think there is another problem with modern vehicle lights. On several occasions I have not seen indicators because the adjacent sidelight is very bright, This has happened in daylight and during darkness. The Tesla Model 3 is the worst culprit. Has anyone else noticed this?
