We ordered our car through the Motability scheme on the 4 September with an estimated delivery date of 31 December, as we did not hear from the dealer we assumed everything was on track. Last week we called to ask for a progress report and were told they do not have a build date yet. We gave them another option and they stll said they could not source a car. We looked at our options and having checked on availability of other cars decided that it would be easier to cancel this order, which we did with great delaying tactics from the dealer including saying we could not cancel as they now had a build date which was the end of January.
We have now sourced another car which will be delivered on our original date of 3 December but are still getting constant phone calls from the dealer. Read more
For the most part, in my opinion, not worth it:
1) Most on the list are diesels, and presumably because sales are dropping rapidly after dieselgate, expensive DPF issues and more than threats from governments to tax diesel-powered cars until their pips squeak, or ban them in a few years time from city centres. As such, second-hand values will be dropping considerably as more people try and offload Euro3 diesels (city bans) and those doing lower mileages/mainly urban driving who now don't want to fork out fortunes to keep their DPFs from expiring (expensively) every couple of years;... 4 of the 10 cars are petrol driven, which at least proves that you don't HAVE to buy a would-be offloaded diesel to get a good discount. And it isn't intended to be an exhaustive list - I can think of other cars that are often sold as pre-reg at reasonable prices. One fine example would be the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. We have one of these incredibly versatile cars. A few years ago, we bought a pre-reg Nissan Leaf that had been sitting in the middle of a heated showroom for a few months. It had done no miles, was perfect, gave no trouble at all in three years, and cost us about £15,000 instead of £26,000. And in a business context, I would never pay anywhere list price for a van. You can always get what you want pre-reg, with delivery miles, in pristine condition, at massive discounts.
From the front it looks OK, but from the back,,,, its a pickup with a tail gate fitted, and some seats stuck inside.
Those rear seats would have to be REALLY good to entice me into buying this.
Currently, I own a Grandis; I dont like the rear seats in the replacement model, so been sticking with the old dame). Read more

I have a 2007 57 Fiesta ST non rain sensing wiper model, on the intermittent setting the wipers park randomly accross the screen inbetween wipes, I remember on Mk1 Focus you can swop the relays to cure this but it hasn't worked on the Fiesta. When the wipers move there's an audible relay type 'click' from high up above the pedal box/heater box area so I'm guessing the timer/relay is housed within the wiper motor and I'll have to replace it to cure this, can any Ford mechanics or auto electricians confirm this? Thanks in advance. Read more
Thanks for that, you were right, there was a permanent live feed to the motor so it was the internal park switch at fault, £30 from the breakers and all sorted, thanks again for the pointer
Hello Guys
Going to a car auction tomorrow to buy a 3 yr old audi a6 avant. In the Appraisal report it says "Qtr Panel nsr; Poor Previous Repair; Rippled UpTo 30% & Bumper Front; Dented; With Paint Damage" Does this mean it has been in some sort of accident and i should steer clear of it especially the word ripples sound like the possible crash sent ripples through the body or does it mean the paint job has ripples? I can't see much from the photos on the bca website so going to go tomorrow and check it out in person.... Read more
do not ignore any suspicions or reservations you may have - either find another, or get to the bottom of it.

Just joined the forum, searched but cant find an answer. My renault has a push start electronic ignition. insert card, depress clutch or brake, push button to start. This morning it wouldnt start, seemed like the system couldnt recognise that the clutch or brake was depressed. I usually use the brake pedal as the clutch pedal sensor seems to have packed up. is there an easy fix? what are the senors called if I need to replace them. Thx. Read more
many thanks for the good advise, ive had the broken wiring fixed on the clutch sensor and alls well.
2005 Ford Ka. Took it for a service and the garage said save your money - the sills are rusted so much that a screwdriver goes straight through it. Also some corrosion to the brake pipes. MOT due in 2 months - will not pass in current state. I've already bought a replacement, and now the question is: sell or scrap? I'm not that knowledgable about the market for used cars - would anyone want to buy it?? Or don't waste my time and just scrap it? Read more

Broke down this morning with the car stuck in 3rd gear. The RAC diagnosed this as a broken selector cable and towed me to a garage. Gear stick goes backwards and forwards very smoothly but not at all sideways.
Is this typical. Regards Peter Read more
My first car, a Heinkel Kabine, had cable operated gears, but then it was mechanically quite similar to a scooter.
I've driven a Bedford Rascal van that also had a horribly vague gearchange which I assumed was cable operated, but then it was a fairly cheap and nasty vehicle....
3 weeks would not have been a problem but it would have been nearly 2 months before the supposed build date. Having scoured the internet we have found other people who have been waiting over 6 months for their new car to arrive. There have been various reasons given, some are saying that they put European orders first as they get more money from them, there is also the fact that the factory is shared between 2 other makers and they only build one make of car at a time and then there is factory down time to factor in.
Think we have sorted it, well we have ordered a different car from an alternative dealership, cancelled the Seat and at least the phone calls have stopped.
