LOL! A pigeon hit the wing of my Volvo and set off the pedestrian airbag! Seriously? What was the pigeon wearing, a crach helmet, leathers and big boots!? Read more
My wife has always complained of asthma related breathing problems when confined in a vehicile in close proximity to diesel vehicles in traffic, especially those that clearly required maintence or adjustments to fuel metering. As a consequence I have opted in her interest to petrol fueled vehicles.
My future plans will focus on petrol hybids, and full electric cars, subject to a realistic acess to charging points when travelling more than locally.

No-one picked up on the following sentence .... In most Australian states it’s legal to use some of a phone’s function while driving, but only if it is “secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle”. .. seems sensible to allow the phone to be used as a sat nav, or to pay the toll on the motorway (eg M4) ....
Hi all,
My windscreen is icy on the inside on cold mornings, grateful for any advice. Car is Seat Leon 2010. Here is my troubleshooting so far:
- Must be moisture in the car somewhere.
- Checked carpets and boot - all dry.
- The rear seat feels a bit damp - it's hard to tell but it may possibly be damp, certainly not soaking
- Poured a bucket of water over the whole car.
- Windscreen on inside still dry
- Checked door seals - rubber seals all dry, but here's where I am unsure
- The seal on the back doors - seems like a felt material - is wet. Not sure if it should be. Here's a pic - you can't see the moisture but the silver metal underneath is also damp: thumbsnap.com/ZQiavU7T
With no apparent leaks getting in my next test would be for a leak in the heater matrix.
Pressure testing the collant system would be a start....

So I've been driving for 7 months now and in the new year I'll be doing my first ever long distance drive from Chelmsford, Essex to Glasgow. My plan is that I'm working New years Eve and I finish just after 1 o clock new years day and I plan on leaving work then driving straight up to Glasgow as I doubt there will be anyone else on the road. My car is a 2010 1.4 vw Polo dsg. So I would just like some advice on planning and doing such a long journey, any advice would be grateful. Cheers Read more
All the above noted with much interest and many thanks.
I do have a Garmin sat nav. It's a fairly old 2595LM and, to be honest, whilst the actual navigation is generally fine, the traffic bit has never been reliable enough to be of any use. ... so I shall look at the suggestions with interest....

Just a quick question you will all know the answer to, I have a 2009 2.0 Tdci with a dash that does tricks like info display will show different pages at the same time and dials that freeze. Now I have noticed that I can make these things happen by toutching or shaking the cluster, it's removed from the dash but pluged in, please don't just say New Dash. Read more
There are lots of vids on repairing these on Youtube.

Just look how the US dealt with cars with diesel engines, they virtually banned them for twenty years, till they got to dpf and scr technology that are just arriving here now - they have not got the massive fleets of old polluting diesels that have set air quality back years.
The CO2 argument on its own was way to over simplistic the high speed NOx emissions shot this down from day one, particulate just added to the problem and why is diesel the same price or more than petrol when it costs less to produce - yes the government still wants the same amount of revenue.... wonder how the electric bills are going to rise in years to come?!?!?!
