Does anyone know how to trace a vehicle back to the dealership that registered it please?
I am aware of the relevance of the first two letters; i.e. YK means that it was registered within the Yorkshire area but I am looking to find if there is a way to confirm which dealership in Yorkshire, for instance, that registered it.... Read more
Hi. My friend got a letter from the DVLA saying he had been banned from driving. This was the first notice he had. He called up and asked why and they said thay he had not responded to letters sent. The incident occurred last year and was in Kent. He looked on his dart account and it showed he hadn't crossed into Kent on the particular day. They won't tell him what it was for either. Anyway he went to court on Tuesday. They said that the van has been lifted, still no reason as to why it was imposed and that they are not worried about that now. It has now turned into a criminal offence as he didn't reply to letters he never received. They have adjourned the case till next week, where he has to prove the letters weren't received!!!
How would you do this and has this happened to anyone else. It doesn't add up to me Read more

I have a 2012 Mondeo 1.6 TDCI only done 50,000 miles it has gone into limp home mode. I have scanned with Forscan and get the above codes, I looked up the codes and get :-

I suspect a proper code reader, and someone trained and competent in it's use, is what's required here.
App-based and cheap (or free) code readers are cheap (or free) for a reason.
I was recently involved in a hit and run accident earlier this week painfully I was unable to get the registration of the car however I did clock the make and model. The roundabout on which it happened does not have cameras however the slip road that leads onto the motorway that the car escaped onto does. I have contacted the highways agency about obtaining cctv footage and they have replied that they have checked the footage and can't identify the car that hit me. I have almost an exact time and location and make and model of the car. The camera points directly onto the slip road it would have 100% picked up the car fleeing. My question is am I allowed by law to request a copy of the cctv footage for myself to look through? I have had to rely on the operator to check for me but I would much prefer to check myself. Where do I stand by law at requesting this ? Is it possible?

Assuming of course the vehicle is not cloned or stolen and is being used with owners knowledge and consent.
Have removed fuel filter and fuel pumps(2)
Problem is I cant remember how they go back... Read more
Should not be too difficult to figure out.The flexi hoses run from the tank to the (push on)ends of the pumps. I find it easier to remove the whole pump/filter framework from the car and re-assemble on the bench,so that the clamp aligns correctly. You may need to replace the rubber support bushes. This may help;www.youtube.com/watch?v=CknB8nrzXyc

My advice would be to fit a blanking plate instead.
Hi All
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having with my 2004 1.2 Panda Dynamic Dualogic.
I know noises are hard to diagnose on threads such as these, but I'll explain what is happening in the hope someone out there might have experienced the same as myself, or someone might have an idea what is causing the noise, and be able to point me in the right direction.
The noise is a rattling, grinding, fast knocking noise that I can feel through the floor of the car, the best way to describe it is like something is dragging along the ground whilst driving along. It has happened on several occasions now over the past 5 - 6 months, and seems totally random, once it happened when pulling away from a junction, another time it happened when cruising on a straight, another time when going round a bend. The noise seems like it is coming from the front, centre to nearside area of the underneath of the car. When the noise happens it lasts no more than about 5 - 6 seconds then goes away again. The car itself seems to drive fine and handles ok, I've checked obvious things like any loose bodywork, wheel nuts, exhaust, etc, but all seems fine. The one significant factor seems to be, and I'm pretty sure is, that the noise only happens when it's wet, I'm sure it has never done it when the weather has been dry. There also seems to be a very faint knocking noise, but can't be sure if this is general road bump noise, however the rattling, fast knocking noise is very prominent within the car.
If any of you guys have any thoughts or ideas what this noise could be I'd be very grateful to hear them.
Many thanks in advance. Read more
Many thanks for the reply
I did wonder myself if the noise had something to do with the driveshafts, I'll have a look when the rain eases off, but as you said its probably not going to be easy to check, so looks like a trip to the garage is in order....
Hello, gearstick feels like stirring porridge, gears all there if you know where to look, how do you make the repair to return to positive detent? Thanks, Mike. Read more
What engine, MK1 or 2? By the looks of it, all 307s use cables rather than rods, as earlier PSA cars did. If it is cables, sometimes the end ferule falls off and causes the cable to flop about rather than activating the selectors. Access to this end of the operations is not all the easy on a 307, being buried under the scuttle panel!
Maybe its a new online competition, and two of the competitors have come here trying to gain an advantage over their opponents.
Could be a considerably more lucrative version of "Hunt the Thimble", going under the rather clunky title of "Find out where the Nissan Navara was registered and you can have it".
