So while taking a drive today the clutch pedal went to the floor and didn't return. After calling the AA he said its most likely the clutch has gone. Renault have quoted us £900 all in. Now after being recovered to the garage the recovery driver noticed a huge puddle of fluid on the bed of the truck. Turns out to be brake clutch fluid. I got in to release the handbrake and it came up with a brake fault. Are the brake and clutch the same? I mean do they use the same fluid? What's the chances of a hose coming loose and it not being the clutch? We had the steering column replaced and only picked the car up at 12 today for it to be back in at 4 Read more

Interesting that Which chose the Alfa as one of the few DONT BUY cars in their recent survey.
Divergent reviews and I know which one I believe....
Reliability for cars 0-3 years old...Not too many surprises...
I find most of these magazines largely useless when buying used, especially 3yrs plus. Their used car buying guides tend to miss most of the issues inherent in particular models and all too often advise used buyers to buy cars those in the know would steer you away from. They are however good if you're buying new or nearly new and simply want to know how the car drives and works when in A1 condition and order.
I agree.

2 weeks ago I pick up my (new to me) car.
BMW 1 series Msport in Blue.
Car is 66 plate with 8,500 miles.
When I initially viewed the car I checked for scrapes dings etc.
Aside from a couple of minor stone chips the car looked mint.
The car was purchased from a local car supermarket, this would normally put me off but they had 6 cars in stock all same age and mileage, just different colours.
Do not an auctioned reject I thought.
After washing the car at the weekend and leaving parked in the sun I noticed the drivers side door and rear door are noticeably different shades of blue.
I contacted the dealer who so far have made positive noises about rectifying the problem.
I was wondering what my legal position is regarding ejecting the car as being faulty as I am well within the 1 month qualifying period.
I am concerned regarding the BMW paint warranty.
The sales man assured me at the time the car came with all relevant warranties.
But I don't really want a car that has been messed about with.
Thanks in advance. Read more
That's excellent news, good work and good on the firm for being so reasonable. The positive word of mouth reviews they'll get via yourself will no doubt sell a few cars for them and that's why I always believe it's worth the cost to keep punters happy. Enjoy your new car!
I need a new set of tyres for my car. Previously, I've just quoted tyre size but having looked online I'm increasingly aware of the tyre loading. The original tyres are rated as 91 but all of the recommended tyres are indicated as 87. I understand that this is more than suficient for the weight of the fully loaded vehicle but wonder whether it would be an insurance issue as the tyres would be less than the manufacturer's preference. " have been astonished in the past to see that tyres seem to gather inner sidewall damage so easily, more so than with the outer side - can't imagine how it happens."
Also, if there's a bulge or a crack in an outer sidewall you'll probably see it and do something about it. But how many of us can claim to inspect our cars' inner sidewalls regularly, or at all?
Hi,
My car was hit on the 2nd of October on a train station car park by someone who decided to drive off without leaving a note.
This has left a huge dent on my driver side door.
I got in touch with the police on that same day who said they would review the CCTV to try to identify the person and vehicle behind the accident.
Today, on the 26th, I received an email from the police saying that after reviewing the CCTV they believe they have found the vehicle who hit my car and would send the registered keeper a NIP.
Edit: It is important to mention that the CCTV footage was only made available to the police on the 15th of October.
After reading online about NIPs, it says that these should be sent within a 14 day period after the alleged accident.
Given that my car was hit on the 2nd and the police will only send the NIP today, will the other driver be able to simply
pull the 14-day card and get away with this despite of the CCTV evidence?

I have had a Cactus C4 1.6HDL Blue Flair addition for nearly two years.. I am a great admirer of Andre Citroen and his engineering. My Cactus as done everything that is required of it. The addition of this new suspension will make it even better as one who in the past as experienced the Citroen Pneumatic Suspension and kept on saying please bring it back. If we can use hydraulics in Farm Equipment and Construction Equipment so easily why not in cars?Well done Citroen looking forward to driving with it. The Cactus is a Great Car. Read more
Does it come as an automatic?
Your brake fault is more than likely the master fluid level sensor.
And the cause is most likely the clutch concentric slave cylinder has gone....
