I have recently changed jobs at the moment have zafira 1.8 petrol and can get 47mpg which as per my friends who have the same car says it is quite good. I do about 20k miles a year and looking for a decent saloon in about 12k budget, have to fit two child seats at the back so something reliable and safe. I am inclined towards a bmw3 320d series with efficient dynamics returning about 80mpg which I might not achieve anyways but even if i can get to 70 it should be good, my run is about 18k on motorway and 2k on local mileage. The ones i have looked so far is 13 reg done 40 to 50k miles and checking mot history just to get an idea if there is any problem on it already documented.
Since i am going to be doing so many miles and mainly on motorway looking for something comfortable and easy, manual or petrol i am not sure but after reading the forums looks like manual is better for good fuel efficieny.... Read more

If you open the glovebox, there should be a fuse map sticker on the side/back.This will give you an indication and location of the rear wiper fuse.(possibly #47 or 48)
I bought a1 year old Nissan Note from a Nissan garage and asked who was the first owner.I was told that it came from Nisson Direct. When I asked to see the Log book I was told that Nissan Direct still had the Log book. When I recieved the Log book it stated the previous keeper was Hertz rental.Have i grounds to reject the car.I would not have bought the car if i had known it was ex rental. I bought a 2011 VW Golf 2011 74500 miles
From a dealer who is RAC and Autotrader Approved
garage this give me piece of mind as it’s been a while since I bought a car to this value to which I paid £5790
Cash I was assured that I had a RAC warranty for 30 days
If I wanted to extend this I could purchase this with the dealer direct but had to be done before the 30days ended.
After driving the car home at a steady 60mph all was ok it was very windy and I could here like a what can only be deceived as a sound similar to when u blow the top of a glass bottle ! I thought cause it has 2 exhaust this must be why! It was only when I reached 70mph on the Tuesday did not only the noise which sounded like a whining and I also had a awful vibration underneath my feet ! I emailed the garage that evening to advise them about the noise vibration and that I didn’t feel safe and that I was contacting the RAC the next morning to have it checked as I was extremely worried to drive it. The RAC came as I have cover with my insurance as it turns out I’m not covered by a RAC warranty! The RAC took the Car back to the garage and issued a report saying suspect gearbox bearing noise ! The garage have now had the car some 5. Days and I have been advised it’s with a specialist I asked for details of were the car was being repaired as I wanted to request for a report of fault and repairs done.
since then I’ve had no reply to any text messages I did tell the manager that I was concerned to drive the car agin and under the consumer rights act I was entitled to a full refund still no reply. I’ve had to hire a car costing me £160 a week ! Which the garage won’t pay for all I want is my money back now I’ve lost all faith in anything this garage says or does !

I don't see why. It will appeal because (a) it's even more economical and cleaner than present petrol engines and (b) it's not a diesel.
Hi all
I was looking through the latest reports of popular cars and what surprised me is how things have changed. Whilst many in July's top 10 (below) are considered good, only 1 or 2 are considered their respective class leaders. ... Read more
Careful objective assessment is a small part of any new car purchase. Any rational analysis would anyway show a new car as pretty poor value when measured against the same model at a year old and 12k miles. The only real exception to this generalisation is when buying a car to keep for 7-10 years where the extra initial cost can be spread over a long period.
Main constraint is cost - but many will extend this with PCP and other fixes. Man maths really - they have simply found a way to spend more than they need or can afford....
Winter's coming, and I feel the cold even more now I am old and thin. Top of the list of desirables is a heater that pumps out loads of hot air asap on frosty mornings. This is never mentioned in auto-reviews so please can owners of Leafs, Volts, tiny ecoboosts etc tell me how good they are at this? If no better than our 17yr old Ford Focus which lives outside but heats up v quickly, better than our previous Passats, it stays on the road! Read more
Thanks to all for helpful comments, esp W'racer for the link to Wisconsin! If a Leaf is OK there, it should be fine for our (non)winters.

I have a ford fiesta 2003 1.4 TDCI that is blowing a lot of blue smoke out of the exhaust, here's the details, hopefully someone can help!
Ford fiesta 2003 1.4 TDCI
113k
Serviced Oil/fuel/air filters replaced and fresh oil
Still very good fuel consumption
Slight Diesel smell inside when running
Lot's of blue smoke after idling for a while then pulling away and accelerating 1st and 2nd, I guess the speed after is dispersing the smoke.
It first smoked like this at Christmas after sitting in a ferry port with the car idling for an hour or so as the weather was freezing and was trying to keep warm with the heaters, I pretty much filled the car deck with smoke :(... Read more
White = steam, either from condensate in exhaust (no problem) or ingress from the cooling system, usually from a failing head gasket (big problem).

“I was registred keeper without v5c at this time (i was waiting, it was new car, i bought it 10 days before the fine).”
Your recent acquisition of the vehicle explains why the NIP you received was late. The first NIP (which is the only one subject to a time limit) almost certainly went to the dealer or somebody else). It may be worth enquiring when the first NIP was served. If it was served beyond 14 days you have the potential for a defence against the speeding charge....
