My lovely MB 320 Avantgard Estate is such an impressive vehicle in so many ways but the perfection is spoilt by a rattle from the electric load space cover mechanism which is under tension and sprung loaded and is a source of noise irritation as it rattles over poor Rosd surfaces.
Is this a common fault with these estates and one that I have to live with?
The problem is evident whether the cover is in or out of use.
Many thanks Read more

They often have a "calling from abroad" number. Use that and withhold your own.....
Currently considering renovating my bathroom. I really like the idea of having glass bathroom splashbacks instead of stainless steel or granite. Something like this.
Anyone with experience? What are the best places for glass splashbacks? Anything I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance! Read more
We have them in our k******, behind the hob, sink and worktops. They have been there for more than six years with no problems. Got from a local glazier.
I've had this car for about 4 years and it was a 2008 58 reg
Since I had it it starts every time pretty much first spin of the engine.... Read more
Oh dear ,looks like they got the guess-o-meter out to check your car. As above, you could put the intercooler in the boot, and it would not cause any problems starting.
Last Year my premium was £176 - fully Comp 2 ltr CRV auto.
Company renewal was £314.
Shopped around, "got comparison sites" + 2/3 who do not appear on comparison sites - lots of lower premiums but not names I recognized - settled on a "household name" insurer for £162.
Phoned current insurer, who I had been with 15 years, to say I was going elsewhere - out of the blue they said "we would match the £162" - they tried to charge me over £300 but would match my £162 - not very ethical way to run a business. Read more
That's the way the insurance industry works though.
Always go to a Broker like Cornmarket last. They will no doubt be able to match your best quote. Underwriters allow them the leeway.
Up to the motorist to shop around. You want to accept the 1st Renewal price from your current insurer then slap it into you if the price is up! That's how they all make money by the laziness of customers.
What a load of rubbish!! - It says it uploads via wifi - when you try it says that the storage space isn't large enough(!!) so do it through your computer using Garmin express. - and that is a pain in the ***
What's the point of being able to update it 'easily' via wifi if the gadget you buy cant't take it????? Read more
A TomTom Via 52 (or Start 42/52/62) is NOT an alternative for use in the UK. These models are NOT FIT for use in the UK, because will NOT accept a postcode ONLY address, the software requires a valid road name to be entered even where none exists and the official Royal Mail postcode address doesn't contain one. Many rural/commercial/industrial addresses do not have a road name.
'Google' for TomTom postcode destination to read multiple reports on TomTom Forums and the stonewalling from TomTom Support.

I'm sure if you can't find an exact match relay ,a good auto spark should be able to adapt an alternative device to work with your system.
My 2006 318ci convertible has 40,000 miles on the clock. When I engage and come off the throttle there's an audible, put not loud, clunk from the rear. It's noticeable at low speeds, probably due to lack of other noises, and I'm not sure if it happens at higher speeds. Everything else about the car is perfectly fine and it has recently been serviced. The people at the garage said it was probably the prop shaft or diff - but didnt seem at all keen to look into it.
Am wondering what people's views are, and how important it might to follow-up on. Read more
Thanks Meldrew - appreciated. It is quite faint, but now I've noticed it, it is getting on my nerves! I've had a look on the forums, but it's hard to tell. Online there is talk of a generic E46 clunk which over the years dealers seem to have told people not to worry about, saying 'it's a BMW thing'. I'll find someone to have a look though as I'm curious.
So...I have a 2016 MB C200 petrol estate and in common with HJ's review I have to say that I think the car is absolutely superb. The ride quality is sublime, the handling excellent and the fuel economy from the 2.0 turbo petrol is really good. So I want to keep the car and given that it has 15500 mile service intervals and given that I do a bit of caravan towing I thought I'd have the oil and oil filter changed half way through the service interval at 7750 miles - Honest John recommends this too.
First call to MB (Sytner) of MIlton Keynes. I get the car booked in before the helpful girl tells me the cost. Wait for it. £277 for an oil change and oil filter!!! I don't know if that includes VAT as I didn't hang around long enough to find out.... Read more
the premium brand workshop will use apprentices or junior technicians for simple routine jobs, probably earning less than the big brand-trained mechanics at my indy.
That is why I use my trusted indy. Here I can speak to the mechanic (in the workshop) who will actually do the work and they let me supply my own genuine parts.
But I don't get free coffee, TV or posh chairs!...
Help anyone, if I leave my car parked in the sun for any length of time, when I try to start it comes up with Engine Malfunction then Immobiliser active and it doesn't turn over. Fingers crossed when I've left it with the doors open it starts perfectly normally after 20 mins. It's doing my head in. Thanks for listening. Read more
Thanks for the update, not come across one of those.
