Yes, that's a very useful site I've used many times. There is sometimes an added advantage that the 0870 or 0845 number is the queueing system. Dialling the real phone number in some cases gets a ringing phone or engaged tone straight away, do you get to avoid listening to tinny music too.

Having said that, I've not needed to phone an insurance company call centre for several years now. Even when I had to claim for a windscreen last year, I notified them online and they called me to sort out the repair appointment.

I use a local insurance broker for the van i use for work. The reason i do this is i can speak to an actual person, and explain how my van is set up in the back with regards to my water tank. I started doing this after getting caught out a few times by national firms phoning me up asking if i wanted an insurance quote (it will only take a few minutes!). I would agree to this, but 20-30mins later, they would then say they couldnt insure me as i have a water tank in the back. I may not be getting the best price, but frankly, i dont care, its worth paying a bit extra for the service and not have my time wasted!.

And it is 'normal' phone number!

They often have a "calling from abroad" number. Use that and withhold your own.....
