Mercedes 320 CDI - Rattle from rear load space cover mechanism - Steveieb
My lovely MB 320 Avantgard Estate is such an impressive vehicle in so many ways but the perfection is spoilt by a rattle from the electric load space cover mechanism which is under tension and sprung loaded and is a source of noise irritation as it rattles over poor Rosd surfaces.

Is this a common fault with these estates and one that I have to live with?

The problem is evident whether the cover is in or out of use.

Have you tried removing the whole load space cover and reel from the car?

Have you come across this before? And is there any electrical conne3ctions to disconnect?

Suggest you look in the manual for instructions. It will not be difficult since removal will be needed to benefit from the loadspace offered by any estate.
