Ok so as my tag name suggests, I do like a change of vehicle! I've had great advice from you regulars on here so here goes....
A month or so ago I travelled a 7 hr round trip to an independent dealer after a few weeks of negotiations, all prepared to part ex and drive home in a white BM Cab. When I got there there was an issue with an engine light that apparently needed BMW to turn it off and to cut a long story short I walked away.
So now I've been negotiating with another garage on another BM Cab; (got rid of a 1 Series cab in Jan but miss the top down feeling!).
It was all sounding great until I checked the MOT History; (a great service btw!), noticed it had done 60k in its first 3 years and asked for the service intervals. After asking three times I now have screenshots of the service booklet and it appears the vehicle wasn't serviced until 56k.
I'm fairly sure I know what you will all suggest, but it appears to have been serviced annually since...(although by the dealer who's selling it; am I being paranoid??), since then and is now on 70k.
If it was a reps car it'd be motorway miles which aren't so tough on cars; or are they? But then surely it'd be regularly serviced?
If the engine was damaged for want of an oil change in its early life would it definitely be irreparably damaged?
I'm due to see it this Monday so advice and questions welcome, as always

Hi,
I hope someone within this community can help me. I was mortified to find an Enforcement Notice relating to a Penalty Charge Notice issued on 19/05/2017. The notice relates to an offence which occured on the 08/01/2017 where I apparently drove down a restricted traffic access (busses only) road.... Read more
I think DVD is correct. I cannot see TFL having significantly different laws from the rest of the country. That is just madness. I think this may have timed out. However TFL may be trying it on and if they frighten the OP he may pay up. The tribunal appeal system is his best bet to sort this out. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Hi guys!
I bought a 12 plate VW Golf Convertible (manual gearbox) from Lookers in February 2017 with 23,000 miles on the clock and it came with one year Das Welt extended warranty. I dropped the car off for service at a local VAT registered local garage about three weeks ago and I pointed out to them an issue that I've been having: when on neutral (but possibly also when in gear, not sure!) when I depress the clutch, halfway as it goes down it makes a rattling noise, but past that halfway point once fully down it stops. The exact same thing happens the other way around, so when the clutch is down, and I release it slowly, halfway up it makes that rattling noise again, but it stops once it is back in its original upright position. Also when I depress it down fully and the suddenly lift my foot off it and allow it to spring back into its original position, the revs go up by about 100-200rpm once it reaches its original upright position after which the revs drop down to normal (900rpm or so) - this rev increase last seven for half a second or maybe a second and it the result of it springing back to its original position when I lift my foot off completely rapidly. Also the gears don't go in easily, especially first and second, as in the gearstick gets stuck roughly halfway between changing from first to second and it needs an extra push to put it in that second gear.... I'd agree, it sounds like a clutch issue.
The warranty handbook for 'Das Welt' quite clearly states that 'Clutch pressure plates, bearings and frictional material' are not covered (page 12)...
... cut pollution that is:
I can understand their viability for short journeys and particularly stop/start deliveries, but what's their range?
Forty tonners travel considerable distances.
Those pesky monkeys in longlete robbed the roof rubber. I have searched on the Internet and cannot find 'spare, repair, parts' to replace both sides. I know the vehicle is an oldy (but a goody) so was hoping I could get advice on where to look, and best term to look for as 'Renault Master roof rubber' isn't yielding my highly anticipated results ?? Thanks chaps, from a damsel in distress ?? Read more
Details here of a company I used to deal with in Norwich.
They are extremely helpful and know what they are doing....
Im sorry but I find many of the questions asked on these pages banal; I mean someone paid £300 for a 16 year old car with 225,000 miles on the clock and thinks he's entitled to money back if the garage px value was less than this? Seriously? Read more
1200 quid for a clutch for a 1.2 Corsa? they don't even have a dual mass flywheel!
Only use a 'waterless' car wash where your car has light dust on it. Do NOT use these products on a car that has water or mud splashes on them. Only use micro fibre cloths. Fold each cloth into 4 square sections. Use a new square section for each panel.
Frequently shake the waterless wash bottle before each application.... Read more
I'm not convinced by this "always left-foot-brake in automatics" notion. It may be fine and dandy if you never again have to drive a manual car, but if you do, your feet will be confused, your reactions slowed and the risk of an accident increased. And a lot of us drive both manuals and automatics.
When I drive an automatic, I brake with my right foot and follow a very simple rule: my right foot is always on the brake unless I'm actively pressing the accelerator. I reckon that's the safest way because my foot can rest gently on the brake pedal as I coast in any situation with a potential for risk. . Read more
I was looking at Nissan Micra on Gumtree and in some cases the HPI check has picked up on a Cat C/D (https://www.gumtree.com/p/nissan/nissan-micra-1.2-eo10llr-direct-from-ins-co/1256351295) but in others the car is listed as a Cat C/D in the description but the HPI check has not picked anything up (https://www.gumtree.com/p/nissan/nissan-micra-5dr-manual/1253325591 or https://www.gumtree.com/p/nissan/nissan-micra-2011-1.2-manual-for-sale-/1257289205). Are HPI checks not always reliable? Read more
Only if you use the VIN (chassis number to us old codgers) do you get any chance and i mean chance of a HPI check being correct. Most people don't do that and Auto trader and others will not let you exclude them from the search, so time is wasted going manually through them.
IF you do look at any cat c/d car make sure the airbags have not been removed.
