Off & On section - Ford key-less entry system also reminds you if you leave the vehicle when stop/start is engaged and also when the fob leaves the car, if you have left on the ignition.

really all vehicles should warn if you leave the stop/start mode engaged and exit the car. Read more

The Nitrous Garden - You say that the fix is not obligatory.

But, is there any reason why anyone with a VAG group car needing the fix would have it done? There is a risk of problems after which doesn't exist if you don't have it done. I understand that the performance or economy is not improved and may be worse.

Hello. I have had a recent emissions update 'campaign' done to my A7 bi tdi and i'm convinced the performance has changed, the MPG has dropped and the tickover is wrong/noisy. Is it just me or could there be an issue here?

I'm not going to argue the toss over the brand / snobbery issue, etc., but what really upsets me is all the dinosaurs who voted to leave the EU, otherwise the £33,000 price tag would be more like £27,000.

Get used to it - that vote is over....

This is my daughters car who is learning to drive. She does potter around on short trips as a learner which is not good. It's had a new EGR valve recently as the EMS light was on. It runs very well but is a bit smokey at times considering it does also have a DPF. No EMS lights have ever come on though apart from the previous EGR fault, now all clear. It ran like a pig anyway with the EGR issue. Mileage 113k. It has been regularly serviced. It's had a new injector seal replaced recently too. There has been an ongoing problem with the crankcase breather pipe though since we got the car a few months ago. Engine bay had lots of oil around it and the clip was broken, so the pipe was half hanging off. I cleaned up the engine bay and put a new clip on. Pic below was with a temp cable tie. There still seems to be oil leaking from there and I am not sure if it's getting into the system and causing issues. I have 10 days to sort it before the retest! I gave it a 12 mile dual carriageway run today at a constant 3.5-4k (4.5k is redline) as the tester said it may just need a good thrashing.I have googled a bit and this pipe seems to be an issue, PCV valve also mentioned. I am praying for a cheap fix as she will soon pass test and can get rid. It failed on suspension bushes too which is £150. When it rains, it pours....

It might not have a DPF at that age -

A 2006 1.6 TDCi 110 PS would have a DPF from the factory and uses EOLYS. Unless of course the DPF has been removed/gutted, the ECU modified to suit and the EOYLS system similarly modified. If that is the case the car is illegal to use on public roads and should fail the MOT....

Thanks to Skidpan for pointing out my careless error in OP. People who viewed earlier will have found it confusing and perhaps may comment now. I have reposted because meeting my friend at weekend and would like to be more informed.

A friend took his car to a national garage chain to have a new clutch fitted. A week later about 250 miles steady driving, he was unable to get the car to engage in gear.... Read more

Thanks both. I will suggest my friend goes elsewhere skidpan - yes answered the question.

Wackyracer, at least it has happened elsewhere, also he had no hassle with the garage - though he should perhaps have given them hassle.

Had car from new - bought from main dealer. Intermittent electrical issues since purchase - autoholddeosn't work sometimes, for example. But nothing too major until recently, when in qucik succession, I have had to replace the suspension bushes (£200), the cambelt (£300), a Nox sensor (£400) and the coolant pump (£89 plus labour).

The main dealer's replacement (the first one went bust) has looked at this today, and has told me: 1) it was a short circuit (on the Adblu pump; and then 2) it wasn't a short circuit on the Adblu pump, and finally 3) it was a faulty coolant pump casuing the Adblu injectors to overheat.... Got to say this sounds a bit strange. The AdBlue is heated but as far as I know its heated electricaly nothing to do with the coolant. The coolant pump is driven by the cambelt and usually replaced at the same time. There is a small coolant pump in the drivers wheel arch but thats part of the Webasto auxiliary heater and nothing to do with AdBlue, that could be made by Webasto.

Around about 2012 there were some dodgy AdBlue systems that caused a stink some here but more in the US but VW have been replacing these FOC. If your car has had the emissions fix I believe the SRC system is one of the items covered under the "good will". give vw emissions team a phone.

Well.. i messed up. LOL. basically i got this stereo set up yesterday, everything working fine except that when the car is turned off it forgets all the settings i set.. which meant the radio wasnt getting constant power when the car is off. to locate that i took the wires and started plugging them into other random wires, the wire i was connecting was the yellow wire from the stereo, ground is connected, well i look on my dashboard and the light for the airbag is on, i get worried and put the wires back where they are meant to be. and start the car, the car starts. headlights turn on themselves, wipers are also running. i try turn them off but nothing happens its automatically doing those, i turn the car off and these turn off, i try to start the car again and it wont start. the battery is fine and has the power to turn the car on, the starter turns, the car cranks but just wont start. i need a solution to this problem ASAP please, any help would be appreciated.
