Hi Everyone , I having trouble with my stero system ! When I switch on the stero be it radio or CD , it plays fine for a minute and then there is static , its actually worse with CD . Has anyone come across this problem any ideas on what it can be . I am hoping in the next weeks to change stero for one with a Bluetooth . The man at Halifords said that this will be a problem because of the fascia so a new system will not fit properly and so I am better off keeping the one I have ! It this correct .
Many thanks for any advice! Read more
So I just bought a 2011 2nd hand mazda takuya (privatly bought). I was driving it back home and everything was going great, until I got about 60miles into the trip, then the car seemed to lose power. If I accelerated the reves would go up, so I dont think the engine is losing power, and the car would judder but not stall. I managed to coast it into the layby in neutural with the engine still running. Turned the engine off and tried again. It would then struggle to turn over a couple times but evenataully work after a minutes rest. I was able to nurse it to a garage (still 50miles from home) in which it did the same thing a couple more times. They ran a diagnostic, in which I believe a few of these are irrelevant to the problem above, maybe all, but I'll put them up anyway:
B1128 - Driverside - Side inflatable deployment control circuit open. DTC warning light. (some scumbag removed the airbag warning light to pass MOT, so need a new bag)... Read more
No offence taken, this is a very useful answer! thank you very much. I'll update when I know just for future users coming accross a similar problem.
No, I'm not joking. SWMBO pointed out at the local garden centre that one of the Ryobi lawn mowers had a 175cc Subaru engine. I know that Honda do small engines but when did Subaru start doing them ?. Read more
I have a push hayter with a B/S engine, not changed the plug in 20 years, mower is about 45 years old, new oil and filter each winter though.
I also have another mower with a Kawasaki twin, 10 year old, though the inline fuel filter never has any visible fuel, but runs like dream. Can't work that one out.
I drive a 2012 Mondeo TDCi 163 Titanium X. The handbook recommends performance grade diesel, however as I live in rural France I only have regular access to supermarket fuel. Is it Ok to use additives with this fuel to compensate. Read more
I live in rural France too, and also only use supermarket diesel fuel and have done for the past 8 years, vehicles include a 2005 Mitsubishi L200 diesel pick up, a 2007 Honda Civic 2.2 diesel and currently a Honda Accord Type S 2.2 diesel.
I am of the opinion that French diesel fuel is better quality than the UK stuff - certainly gives better mileage - I have never had problems with any of the aforementioned vehicles and have never used additives as such....
Hi
I have a Ford Focus Estate 2003 and noticed that i have warm air blowing through even when on cold, checked and it appears both fans near radiator are not working.... Read more
Has the aircon gas pressure been tested - if it's low/zero the system won't operate - it may just need re-gassing but could be system leaks.
Hi everyone, I have a hyundai getz 1.1 2007 with radiator fan not cutting in, the fan doesnt work on air con setting either.
I've done a few things to try and diagnose but am now a bit stuck so hoping someone can help!... Read more
The interior fan has to be on as well for the AC to work. Something that SWMBO does not appreciate.
My daughter had an accident when she was driving from her drive down the road and passed two parked cars when a car reversed blindly from his drive and hit my daughter on the rear wheel arch. My daughter had right of way. The guy entered into her path. It wasnt even the front of the car but the rear of the car.

This shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to sort and it is a case of insurance companies dragging their heels.
When reversing it is the driver reversing that needs to ensure the path is clear. End of. The speed of other cars is of no consequence, the person reversing hit them demonstrating a compete lack of observational skills.
S200 of Highway Code is what you quote to get the insurance companies to buck their ideas up.

My friend says his Mercedes CLS handbook says not to always use super unleaded fuel as it will cause damage to the engine.
I've not seen the handbook, but has anyone else heard of anything similar? ... Read more
All modern cars sold in the UK for the past 20+ years can run perfectly well on 97/98/99 octane super unleaded (apart from diesels, obviously), without any harm to the engine. Whether they get any noticeable gains in power or economy from doing so is another matter.
I've just been reading HJ's weekly emails column. I've noticed he increasingly warns people off diesels largely due to the high cost of maintenance of all the emissions equipment over time. But is he over exaggerating. I quote:
"But the hassle and cost is considerable. AdBlue to add regularly, then the possibility of AdBlue heater, DPF and EGR failures if not straight away, in the future. Those are the reasons I'd be wary of diesel. Not so economical when you have to spend £2,000 - £4,000 replacing emissions equipment after 3 - 4 year"... Read more
LPG is a compromise. Yes it's cheaper to buy but you'll use more of it, you'll lose boot space in most cases to the LPG tank and some of the poorer conversions I've seen aren't safe. In a heavy rear impact it's highly likely the mess of pipework and that secondary tank sitting in the cabin filled will highly flammable fuel will be compromised. They're also known for burning out valves on certain models. You've got to carry both petrol and lpg which adds weight and harms mpg again.

Repeat post, sorry.
