Hi guys, already before, but new info has been found and want a 2nd opinion please. Corsa D, 2008, 1.4L 50k miles, serviced almost every year. The problems have developed over the past week (in order)

1. The car will jutter (like it’s injecting fuel and then not) at low throttle but any constant speed, perhaps like its about to lose power, but then doesn’t…... Read more

My daughter had a Corsa C that did this.
Noticeably the cutting out and needing flooring to make progres preceeded a EML light that indicated crank sensor (not CAM sensor)Change of sensor and problem was sorted and EML cleared within a few miles.

Hi,

I am just after a bit of advice as I know nothing of cars. My peugeot went in to the garage for a cambelt change and when it came out, after a mile of driving the ESP / ASR SYSTEM FAULTY error message came on the screen. As it was at the end of the day I left it unitl the following day and took it back to the garage (after reading posts on here perhaps that wasn't a good idea but the garage has always been good with reasonable prices). I thought it was perhaps linked to something they did. ... Read more

The "codes are not the issue" isn't really right. Codes are being stored which brings up the message and something is triggering them.

Stop the messages being triggered and the message will stop coming up....

I'm looking for a used estate car - probably a diesel, though I want it to be euro 6 compliant.

I understand anything registered new from Sept 1st 2015 MUST be euro 6 compliant, so anything 65 reg onwards.... Read more

I already posted yesterday in reply to RobJP saying I will be getting it done

Not pulling the service forward as then I would have to do that every year and next year it will be getting an MOT which I like similar time to the service,...

Leaving aside the badge are there any important differences between the Sharan and Alhambra? Same tyres sizes / suspension set up? Are the seats the same? Presumably the Alhambra will depreciate slightly quicker than the VW?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Read more

That's really helpful - will have a look.

Re the pollen filter - no idea but it did have fair bit of what looked like matted, muddy straw plastered underneath so wonder if it's been used by a farmer - lots of dusty tracks perhaps. Safer to find another one..

Hi all,

My friend showed me this oil additive you add every 40, 000 miles. It uses nanotechnology, the particles have one sticky side which bind to the surfaces of the engine the other side is said to be very hard and low friction to protect the engine and reduce wear and increase mpg. ... Read more

Wot, does no one believe this miracle goo fills in/replaces worn away metal effectively reconditioning the engine as you drive along :-)

My seven year old 308SW diesel has about 50000 miles on the clock, is well looked after and in good condition. There is one issue that is starting to worry me. When I change gear, the clutch behaves normally but on the way up, after the gear change, it will sometimes momentarily stick and then pop up by itself. It started doing this a few months back every now and then but now it happens a lot more. There are no strange noises coming from the clutch as far as I can hear. I have tested it and it sometimes - but more rarely - happens in neutral or when the car is in gear but the engine is not on. The bite point is still high up and gear changes smooth. The Peugeot garage seem to think that it is some dirt on the rod that is causing friction and have treated the problem with some goos old WD40, which seems to have helped but not eradicated the problem. I would be calmer but a couple of months back, in some inclement weather in the countryside, the car was pushed to its limits in order to get us out of a very sticky situation. Despite this, neither I, nor the garage seem to think it was sufficient to break a clutch.

I thought I'd update this as it's quite interesting. All those months back, Peugeot told me that dirt must have entered the sleeve behind the pedal causing friction and told me to just drive it as normal. They said they could repair it but as it wasn't actually broken it wasn't worth it. 19 months on, I've added 40,000 miles, been to France a couple of times and not had any problems apart from a sticking clutch pedal every now and then. I am lucky that my dealership has always been so honest I suppose.

"Not sure about long term issues, (maybe SLO can help here) but absolutely nothing went wrong with ours in the 3 years we had it. I thought, and still do, that the Fusion is a fantastic and very underrated little car."

Just a Fiesta with a taller more practical body and a lower price tag used thanks to the ungainly styling. But nothing really wrong with them. Doesn't handle as well because of the higher centre of gravity but they use the same Yamaha designed petrol engines or PSA 1.4 diesel and are generally pretty robust with exception of the later 1.6 diesels. Good used buy if cheap enough. Most of them are owned by older drivers who really look after them and do little mileage. Just like the Honda Jazz it's rare to find an abused boy racer owned example. Post Nov 05 facelift cars are much better made and nicer looking inside, earlier dashboards are pretty flimsy and rattle prone. £1,000 will get a good, car with effort £2k will get a lovely facelifted example with low mileage. Nowhere near as economical as an Aygo/C1/107 though.

Wonder if anyone knows the answer, cant find anything on Yougov.

My son and his partner have gone on holiday and will not be back in the UK until early Tuesday morning. His partner forgot to tax her year old car (no MOT needed) before they left. She will need to drive the 'untaxed' car to work around 9.00am on the Tuesday they get back.... Read more

I do my wife's car, online, and need nothing as it's on a direct debit renewal.

Suggest first time you do it online you may need the renewal number from the licence renewal document but as note previously they just want your money.
