i just serviced my car with my local garage. but no record of it being serviced on my idrive how come? but the service light is reset already. Read more
So, 18 months on, and 10,000 miles on, still very satisfied with the venga. Routine servicing with annual oil changes so far and no problems except for one weeping shock absorber, no doubt down to the state of our roads.
Fuel consumption mostly around here about 35 is, 40 on a "run".... Read more
Hi guys
This is my first post on the forum so hello! I've been reading for years but never posted.... Read more
If the clutch is slipping it'll be because the clutch centre plate friction linings are worn to the point where the pressure plate can no longer clamp it against the engine flywheel.
It can also be caused by an oil leak contaminating the clutch but most warranties exclude consequential damge so no hope there....
My daughter has a Hyundai i20 62 reg. which has had a fault whereby all the dash warning lights come on during driving and even on two occasion also refused to start. The AA have attended twice and advised they think it is a wiring fault. All this has occurred during the warranty period and the Hyundai dealer has failed to find/fix the fault on three occasions.
The problem happened again yesterday although the car kept running.... Read more
The i20 has now gone in for Vantage to see if they can find the fault(s) at the third attempt.
Having had a conversation with CA they tell me the end of the warranty period is not something Hyundai can hide behind if they fail to fix the problem before the warranty ends....
I have a 2007 2.2 diesel corolla verso. I have had numerous visits to the gargae, head replaced, now injector issues on and on and now am having issues again. I am faced with getting rid of it or having a second hand engine fitted. Does anyone have any experience of having a second hand engine fitted to this model and if so any recommendations? Read more
I agree, get rid of the car and move on.
Buying a s/h engine will be a minefield in itself, and if you source it and then get a garage to fit it and it's subsequently faulty then you will be paying for the garage labour to take it back out again and you will be responsible for attempting to return it to the supplier (assuming supplier still around)....
Been offered a lovely 50k miles 318D Touring as a possible replacement for my A4 1.9 TDI 130 2003
Does this car have the notorious N 47 engine with the rear chain? And may I have your views on its potential as a replacement for my brilliant A 4 which is getting on a bit at 135k. But has cam belt changed recently and is in great condition . Read more
Really appreciate your views which has helped me to make up my mind to keep the A4
Unfortunately, I'm in the market for a used C3. Gone are the days of considering performance, economy or build quality: it's all about how well the car rides and whether my back will withstand more than a 20 minute journey. Diesel would be nonsensical at about 6,000 miles a year, the 1.1 petrol lacks grunt and the 1.2 is considered too expensive.
There are two 1.4 engines - the 8v prodiuces 75 bhp whilst the 16v produces 95bhp. At our age, the difference in insurance groups (7 and 12) isn't a factor but are there any other factors I ought to consider before opting for the more powerful, but equally economical, 16v version? Read more
Agree with the above. If you have a back problem, supportive seats are at least as important as a comfortable ride.
Volvos have some of the best seats in the business, so have a look at a V40. Also, I couldn't find much to tempt me with the Nissan Pulsar and Qashqai, but both do have, to my mind, very comfortable seats....
I purchased a craft machine for my wife back at the beginning of March. It was a pre-order with a £30 non0refundable deposit. It was due to be delivered at the end of March. March came and went and a few different dates came and went and it was eventually delivered yesterday.
In the meantime my wife has bought something else and so this new machine is not required so it's being sent back.... Read more
Thanks for the reply.
It is in the grey area as it was an anticipated date - although a 3 month delay does seem a bit extreme....
Please would someone remind me of the name of the Insurance Company who provide Roadside Assistance simply by the driver paying the people who come out to help him / her and them claiming the cost back afterwards. Read more

In New York. Wonder what the response time would be?
So I put a hefty deposit on a car that would be the balance of payment plus my part ex. I drove away and the garage would MOT the car and I'd collect it the following week. After an hours driving I stopped at the services and had a change of heart. As the dealership was now closed, I send an apologetic text message.
Dealer was very understanding but said to sleep on it, which I did. Didn't feel any different today, call it foolish but the car just wasn't making my heart race and I shouldn't have been swayed on the day.
Dealer is still asking me what's wrong and why I don't want the car, plus is saying he would have to pay a terminal charge for taking and refunding the payment. It's 5% I believe.
Whilst I understand I've probably royally peed him off, can he demand this from me? I don't want him out of pocket but is it true or just a guilt trip? Read more
Stating the obvious that people who glibly give out info clearly forget if you read some of the comments. So no, I dont take it as read.
Re the OP, Ive had both a 3 Series E90 convertible and Z4 E89 convertible, both with hard top roofs. Providing you adhere to the guidance and dont put anything in the side areas of the boot thentry and retract the roof, you shouldnt have any problems....
