June 2017
I have decided to expose xxxx on all the forums I can, after what they did to me as CAB couldn't do anything.
I paid £2000 for a recon engine in my passat and regretted it badly, the car came back with endless problems which ultimately lead me to trade the thing in for a big loss on what i could have got for it because of all the fault lights up on the dash- DPF filter, glowpugs (engine management), i count myself lucky to have made it to the dealer without breaking down AGAIN!!... I had the Aircon regassed in June 2016. The garage said that the coolant level was virtually zero after the previous regas in 2014. The mechanic regassed and checked for leaks and said there were none.
Today's temperature was in the mid seventies/ 25 centigrade. I had the Aircon running for 30 minutes but it didn't cool the car down. Usually when the Aircon is working well I have to turn it off after a few minutes as it gets a bit chilly.... Read more
Our X reg Focus aircon still works fine and has never been 'serviced'
Hardly headlines is it. When did you ever service anything....
I purchased a used 2013 citroen ds3 1.6 hdi from a large franchise dealer and after 8 months the camshaft snapped! They have had the car in their garage for 3 months now and have said it was oil starvation that caused it to snap (this I do not dispute), they have also stated that this was not down to my negligence as I have serviced as scheduled and always checked the oil is at the correct level and admitted this was not standard wear and tear.
Does anyone know what could have caused the oil deprivation if the car always had sufficient oil and do you know if this is common at 34000? The dealer in question is refusing to pay for the repairs and will not even investigate the cause unless we pay them to do it. Surely this isn't right? ... Read more
I've heard of one turbo and this camshaft... hardly a terrible rate. A contact who repairs them for a living was doing >1 turbo a week on 16V engines, but has yet to see a single 8V with lubrication troubles. That's less the no of clutches you've had on your Honda....!
with all the major manufacturers including Toyota, Lexus, BMW etc leading the way with petrol hybrid models it's interesting to learn that the company car users are reluctant to have their diesels taken off them.
Unless you are a city trader living in Maidenhead and travelling to the city wher a hybrid is ideal, the average rep may prefer the certainty of a diesel starting without charging , having a great range and only needs filling up once or twice a week , instead of three times with a large petrol.
Clarkson travelled to Edinburgh return on one tankful of diesel in an Audi A6
So economically the diesel is the only option and car fit for purpose for company car use IMHO.
Refill time 5 minutes , all electric up to two hours depending on power source. Read more
Without getting too political, this government is clinging on by the skin on their teeth - alienating half the electorate currently running diesels would be the last straw.I agree, with the worsening problems in our country and its fractured society i would hope politicians will reorganise their priorities.
The dementia tax farce proved just how quickly they will find reverse gear when needs be....
I have a Fiat Punto 2010 with duological transmission. Resently car stopped in traffic light and stalled. Remained in 2nd gear and wond start nor move. All the time stuck in 2nd speed. (gear). Did remove the battery and reconnect but no positive result.
When disconnecting the solenoids the engine starts but no shifting.... Read more

I have had my 2009 Volvo V50 1.8 (manual/petrol) for over a year now and am starting to regret it.
We got it when my son was one and a half, to get all his bags, toys in etc.... Read more
We managed OK in an Audi A4 with 2 kids 17 months apart. The boot couldn't take a double buggy except for the Stroller type. Apart from that it was fine, but holidays necessitated a roof box. I was dead against a people carrier or mega-estate. You just adapt to what you can carry. Now have a Mazda6 mk2 hatch and 2 teeneagers and can fit in enough for a family ski trip (2pairs of boots, helmets etc.) without need for a roof box. I had a Hyundai i40 estate on hire for a work trip once and I found it was less commodious than my Mazda6 saloon.
Had a car accident with my Civic, I was driving by 130mph down by the East London, and some b****** ran from the left side. Thanks to God I'm alive and I dont know how, but brakes turned out to be very good. I have never thought Civic may have such powerful brakes. Read more

Deffo not. Im amazed people would fall for this and the like from hyundai(?) with their on line ordering. You'll get a grand off the car if you're lucky. Perhaps people dont want to haggle?
I dont understand that when you'd haggle a lot more off the car if you actually went to the showroom and stood your ground....
Help, I have a 57 plate Golf Mk5 1.6 fsi. Recently I have been driving normally when I suddenly lose revs and power and have to pull over or stall all together. The ecp light comes on and what looks like the traction control light. The last time it happened the check engine light came on too. After waiting a minute or two it starts up and drives okay.
Can anyone help.
Cheers Anton. Read more
As a start you need to get the fault codes read then go from there
