Hi
I think it's time to move my 1 series BMW on it failed its last MOT on a couple of minor things which once I've fixed and have it retested will then put it up for Sale. I've been looking around for a small estate car and came across a Hyundai i30 estate it's a 58 plate with 80000 miles a 1.6 petrol
It seems in very good condition with service history. Never owned one of these before and I was wondering if their any good. Have had a look at the Reviews on HJ and they seem favourable.
Anything I should look out for ?
Thanks

Hello im ne to this forum so just looking for some advice if anyone has any.

I had a accident in my Dacia Duster on 9th September 2016 and my car was taken to the garage that was supplied by my insurers. The garage had most of the work within 2 days of it being in the garage but the car is still their to this date with no date on when it will be returned. This is not down to the garage but down to Dacia not having the part. It is a front bumper that i need and i have contacted Dacia customer service and they have put me as high priority customer. All i get from Dacia is a phone call or text message every couple of weeks telling me that they have no update. The same where my car is have another Dacia Duster waiting for the exact same part that has been there for over 10 months.... Read more

unfortunately i don't have a reader but today the light went out on a drive but when i got back home it came on again and i noticed the right hand side was up to its max and the left looked normal, i'm guessing it could be the right hand sensor

I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions with regard to other SUV choices before I splash the cash on a CRV. At this point I'm looking at a 2.0 petrol 2WD CRV but I keep reading that the engines are quite underpowered and need to be worked hard to get anything out of them. I also recently read that there have been issues with the aircon (although that was on a US site just in case that makes any difference) I have decided on a petrol due to the short journeys I do (DPF a definite no go for me) My reasons for an SUV is that I need something with a high ride height due to my outdoor hobbies. I would like 4WD as an extra luxury due to some of the places I go but can live without it if necessary so long as I'm careful where I park up. Obviously a petrol 4WD is going to be greedy on fuel but providing it isn't too bad I reckon I can live with it. That said, I did have a 4WD CRV petrol on an 02 plate and it was horrendous on fuel. From a full tank, after 270 miles the low fuel light was back on and it was back to the filliing station for me! Hopefully the more modern engines are a bit better nowadays. Trouble I'm having at the moment is that no matter which car I fancy a look at, there are problems in some form or another and I end up going round in circles!

Any suggestions would be very welcome. Read more

This is difficult or impossible to claim on without a dealer history so disregard any dealer who tells you it has it if there's no book full of dealer stamps.

A book full of stamps means nothing to Kia even if they are from a Kia dealer. Kia know all too well that stamps are available to purchase from a well known auction site thus the warranty T & C's clearly says that receipts showing what was done, when and what parts were used are all needed for a warranty job.

Obviously if these are from a Kia dealer its still easier.

Advice please on a secondhand large MPV / small van suitable for 3 children, 2 dogs and regular road trips with lots of luggage. Needs to last 5 years (15k miles per year) without costing a fortune in repairs.

Budget approx £10k.

I’m replacing a bullet proof 1.8 petrol Toyota Verso now approaching 200k miles - sadly not big enough anymore.

I am very wary of diesels having read through umpteen posts on this forum, but realise there must be some that are more reliable than others.

VW vans - expensive and don't seem that reliable.
Hyundai i800?
Mercedes Vito? Higher mileage examples for my price range..

Am I missing something?

Thanks. Read more

I have read a number of views criticising the poor visibility of this car and the potential risks. Any views on this ?

Also should there be an objective rating with set criteria on visibility given in reviews ? Read more

Too much to hope that car designers would take visibility into consideration ?

IMHO two factors take priority in design of today's cars - crash protection (hence hefty pillars etc) and styling. Being able to see out optimally comes well down the list, as does respecting the wishes of other drivers in terms of (for example) sharing road space and not blinding oncoming drivers.

Quick question just looking for other people's thoughts on this really,

My house in an end of terrace house with a piece of pavement on the side which is big enough for 2 cars to park fully, when I purchased the property the person I purchased it from wrote down that there was parking to the front to the side and the garage but the pavement is not actually down on the deeds just looking into things i wondered if anyone knew whether this pavement would be purchasable from the council as it only leads to my gate and only I need access there it also has no services in according to documents I've looked through,

Any thoughts or feedback would be really appreciated,

Thankyou Read more

It shows the difference between some councils and others. The North East has traditionally been cheaper for most types of building and groundworks. It seems the councils are taking a similar approach. Anywhere South of Watford and the prices are hiked to a shameless degree and usually thw work is inferior to trademen in the North. You got a good deal there Redcar01. Cheers Concrete

Hi, i wonder if anyone has any experience/advice on this problem. I have a 58 plate diesel sedona 2.9 ts.

At around 3000rpm the engine management light comes on then around 60 seconds later the car cuts out. When restarting the engine management light is out and as long as revs are kept to a max of around 2500, then the car is fine, nippy and running smoothly. It can rev to 3000 in neutral without the same happening.... Read more

For future readers with similar problems, replacing the inlet metering valve solved it for us, along with new glow plugs.

Bought a new valve for £55, set of new glow plugs for £55 and everything was fitted for £50. Much better than the £1400 for a new fuel pump and injectors that we were first told that we needed....
