My car has had the dreaded eac fail for quite a while, tried all the usual. I'm thinking of disposing it any way because of age, my question is does this continue to be an issue with more recent Fords? All of the entries on forums I have seen seem only to relate to cars about the age of mine or earlier.
For me it has to be the Range Rover - especially the vulgar customised ones where they replace the bonnet ridge lettering with O V E R F I N C H or R E V E R E. Yes yes, very clever. Reminds me of the old "You've just been NOVA-taken!" stickers on the back of crappy old Vauxhalls.
It's possible the drivers of these sheds have coloured my judgement... Read more

Hello,
side from the obvious risk of theft, is it illegal to leave your car running whilst you're scraping the outside and your vehicle is on a private drive or road?
I heard that any unattended vehicle can reward you with 3 points on your license even if its sitting on your drive. He added that any driveway or private road which abuts to a public highway is still subject to traffic law.... Read more

Hello,
I have not purchased a car for myself for over 20 years so am out of practice.
I have seen a car at a local dealer that suits. Its a 1.6 petrol Auris CVT. 2014 and 10k miles. It also has three years of the Toyota warranty left. Its not my first choice but because of my ankle I can no longer drive a car with a clutch.
The dealer has it priced up at £12k. Similar cars (all some distance away on Autotrader) are between £10.5k and £11k. WBAC price it (in a forced sale) is £9k.
I have no PX so how does one go about getting a serious discount on it?... Read more
I suggest approaching the person who bought your last car 20 years ago for guidance!
Hello,
I've lost an element on my heated rear window, annoying as the car's less than three years old and I've never had anything in it that could have caused the damage.
Anyone ever used one of the electrically conductive paint repair kits and would they recommend it?... Read more
Toyota, less than 3 years old with a problem.
Get the dealer to replace the window under warranty
Hello,
Does anyone on here have experience of using a car cover for protecting their pride and joy.
My car is getting bombarded with pigeon carp and I am getting fed up with washing it off every 2 or 3 days.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.... Read more

Hello,
An annoying rattle, at 1000 to 1300rpm, from the underneath of the car prompted a visit to the place where I had a replacement exhaust fitted a year ago. (Non-franchise, small group, tyre & exhaust, MOT and service outfit: DEXEL, recommended).
They popped it on the lift and a few minutes later told me the rattle was the heat shield tapping on the body. The receptionist said it was rotted away and that he'd removed it completely.
No charge.
Apparently this is not an uncommon problem, but I wonder if I really, really need to replace it?... Read more

Hi
I have a 2007 Chevrolet Kalos, runs great most of the time but when it starts up on a cold day I have a problem. It starts fine all the time when its not a cold day. ... Read more
I had the same problem with one of these. Chevrolet head office admitted that the 1400 engine had a known fault with sticking exhaust valves and said the only cure was to replace them with a modified valve. As they quoted about £600 I declined. The fault manifests itself when the engine is warming up. The random misfire code is logged. After a few starts without the misfire the MIL light resets and goes out again.
I gave mine a serious Italian tune up and that solved the problem for about 12 months.
I was hit by a left-hand drive lorry on the M25 near Clackett Lane. I was in lane 3 when he pulled out from lane 2 into the side of my car sending me spinning across the motorway and writing off the car. No one else stopped at the scene although a number of other drivers must have witnessed the incident as traffic was extremely heavy at the time. I dialled 999 and the Highways Agency came to clear the road but no police attended the scene as there were no injuries. At the time the lorry driver was extremely apologetic and admitted complete liability for the incident. He was also very worried about the police checking his tachograph as he had already been driving for 10 hours which I think is illegal?

Recent news on motor insurance premiums blames rises partly on cost of repairs:
I tend to agree with the earlier posts. The issue with the other driver’s insurance company not settling with mine drags on and my company has passed it on to a claims handler. The first I knew of it was when I got a letter from the claims handler asking if I had suffered any injury in the accident (or any injury had subsequently come to light) and had any additional out-of-pocket expenses. Subsequent to the accident the main issue has been chasing it up by phone and letter/e-mail. The sum involved is less than £500 and if no one else had been involved I would not have claimed, but then it would never have happened!...

Eac fail only seems to affect Fiesta models from around 2002-06.Not seen any later cars with this issue.
