Good afternoon I'm after some advise on garage repairs, my car wouldn't start November 16, took it to Vw/ Audi specialist, he advised car had dpf filter blocked up also rocker cover needed to be removed and cleaned due to running car on incorrect oil, I had a bill for replacement dpf from motor factors and fitting for £1045, car has been back in garage since end of January 17 due to breakdown, garage said oil filter was clogged solid and caused the engine to blow, I'm not a mechanic, but Surley this should have been replaced when the original repair was done? I would appreciate some advice

Friends of ours bought a brand new 1.2 many years ago and we thought they were totally mad. The first few months proved us correct, it spent more time in the garage being completed than on the road. Obviously the factory sent the car out with no quality checks whatsoever.
Once the dealer had finished building the car it was totally trouble free until they finally scrapped it. It ended its life at Uni with No 2 daughter but age and a hard life eventually caught up with it....

I would like to nominate the VW Passat B6 and Audi A4 for the appalling drain hole blockage problem from the bulkhead scuttle.

We've been knowingly living with various spyware from the first days of the paper disc tachograph in lorries, and now with remote accessible digi tachograph able to be read on the move by a suitably equipped (VOSA/DVSA/whatever we call ourselves this week) vehicle alongside such as passing slowly on the motorway...this is quite apart from the myriad of supplementary spying equipment modern transport admin fetishise over.
Don't suppose cars will be so openly grassing their owners up, because the manufacturer who admits this and co-operates freely with the old bill won't be selling many cars soon as the word gets out, but i am in no doubt that whatever we do in the more expensive vehicles is being recorded quietly and permanently and has been for some time....
