That is true SLO76. There are some anomalies where the make/model doesn't seem to stack up against the norm, but in general the deal works out well. As usual the bones need to picked out of it. The devil is always in the detail. I am aware that the vehicle needs to be returned in very good condition, but I always keep our own vehicles in good condition too. I am not sure what kind of deal may be struck for the vehicle at the end of the contract term if I wanted to buy it. I think this is where the supplier may look to make some money. They will have a 3 year old vehicle, in good condition with low mileage, probably a good forecourt attraction and a decent margin to be had. The deal has to suit all parties to be sweet.

The battery has failed in my key fob.
Can you let me know how to change it and reprogram the fob if necessary. Read more
Thanks everyone but KH's simple and concise instructions worked fine and I am most grateful to him.
My Volvo V70 keeps cutting out and its getting slowly worse. Anyone any cheap home fixes to try before I bite the bullet and make an expensive visit to the garage.
When you throttle up at a standard rate and it will get to 3000rpm-ish then go in to limp/low power mode with the engine warning light on. If you continue to accelerate it will cut out. If you back off it will stay running in low power mode.
Turn it off and restart and it resets back to normal.
Floor the throttle and it will cut out immediately no warning given. .
Tease it up with a very low throttle and it will happily run all the way up to the rev limiter.
It hates hills and has cut out a number of times even with quite low throttle.
Any info welcome Read more
At the last place I worked at we had several Volvo's with this engine and hundreds of Peugeot/Citroens. We even had a few Fords. Me and the Mrs had a Focus fitted with one.
None of those cars ever had an issue and we kept them until 150,000 miles. All were correctly serviced using the correct oils etc....
I am help my daughter to find her very first car for cheap to running and to insure. Her licence is for automatic only, she is really like the Nissan Mirca 2002 1.0 CVT with 63,000 owned by elderly lady with excellent full service history. But when I hear the word CVT sound very complications, I went search on Google to see how it works, when I see a picture of the chain/rubber belt inside the transmission do this required to replace like the timing belt? or leaving forever? How good is this? should I avoid this car? Her other car is on the list are Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 easytronic transmission and Fiat Punto 1.2 speedgear are this both same as CVT??
Helpful reply is appreciate Read more
Wife happily ran a 1.3 micra auto with CVT for the last 6 years ( til the sills got us ) without any issues. As others said apart from the cross member rotting these go on forever ( ours was quite badly corroded but had an independant welder do it for £105 as opposed to garage who wanted £330 )
Hello, I am currently searching for a nice used car and I really like the 2004-2008 Audi A3 Sportback. I would prefer to get the 1.9TDI but there arent any listings in my price range, so my question would be, what is the most reliable petrol engine in the A3 given that the 2.0TDI is a no-go?

"So surely the simple way to find out is to look at the dashboard symbols?"
If you're infront of the car in the metal then yup could do or just physically look for the thing. The idea however is to save the effort of traveling to view one with a DPF fitted to start with as they really are worth avoiding. It ruins an otherwise very pleasant and robust motor.
I have recently had the E189 VW emissions software update carried out on my 2.0 TDI Golf. Travelled to Cornwall from London. On the way on two occasions, the Glow Plug warning light started flashing and the car went into limp mode. This was sorted when I restarted the car. On the way back however, this warning light came on along with the Catalytic Converter Light on constant. The car lost power. Recovery was called and diagnostics showed that the issue was with the EGR valve. I was recovered 300 miles back home.
My local garage hooked my car up to the diagnostic machine and fault code P0403 - EGR CIRCUIT PASSIVE / CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION showed up.
I was told that as I had recently had the software updated at VW I should take it back for them to reciting as the fix costs in the region of £1000.
I have taken the car to VW and it is with them now. Has anyone else heard of this problem and where do I stand in respect of VW being held responsible or not?
Thank you! Read more
My EGR failed 2 weeks after the vw software update. It's proving very common. How did you get on?
Just bought one of these, used, 57 plate. 64k, Diamond spec.
Just interested to hear owners reviews, issues I should look out for, anyone got a bull bar or front parking sensors retro fitted?
I pick it up on Sunday.
So any advice and observations welcome as I join the Outlanderclub!
TIA

I have a 59 plate running the VAG diesel - no DPF which is good. Possibly has the oil pump of death engine, I could never find out for sure as the codes on the mitsubishi engines differe from the wider VAG fleet. Mitsubishi claimed it wasnt affected. In any case it's done 85k with no issues other than sticky turbo vanes now and then, which clear with a good motorway blast. It uses a bit of oil but I keep it topped up. Gear change is a bit stiff. Handling is fine and it can go off road. The bridgestone dueller tyres arent up to much in my opinion. Slippery in the wet, rubbish in the winter. I run goodyear Eagle LS2 multi seasons which work really well all year and have lasted 20k already and stillhave lots of life in them. I'm surprised to not see them more often here, but they are a very popular fitment in the US.
Hello All,
I have the 165 Sport Nav Model 2014, which has 18" wheels as standard. I am currently trying to source a space saver wheel but all I can find is 16" wheels. Is this correct?... Read more
Hi, the hold-all is to fit a space saver only, which is permanently in my boot. The 18” wheels was in the boot until repaired. Not ideal, but it kept me moving.
Short version: I test-drove a 225xe plug-in hybrid for nearly 300 miles. It was quick, fun and interesting to drive; I got nowhere near the official economy figures (38mpg in my hands); but it would save a company car driver a ton of BIK tax and contract hire rates are cheap.

That's a very far cry indeed from even the least economical (99.9mpg) 225xe PHEV variant listed here:
Thanks for all your answers folks - much appreciated.
Sounds like it's going to be a 1.4, probably the higher output....
