Ok here goes, had this van for years, first got it it went like a rocket ship but not now, about 3 years ago van wouldn't start, Peugeot specialist diagnosed as ecu fault do replaced ecu and all was good, about a year later under hard load it would cut out, and illuminate elm light, restart after 5 seconds and run fine till the fault re occurred, this got more frequent until I was towing a car home and had to disconnect fuel rail sensor to get home, went to start van one day and it wouldn't start, looked on forum and tried double pin relay, connector was damaged so I wired up new relays and the van would run again, still in limp mode with fuel rail sensor disconnected, got a scrap car to swap bits over from and here's where I am now,
Swapped injectors
Swapped rail sensor
Swapped for
And it was still no better so I assumed the worst and changed high pressure pump, van started up and eml came straight on, yeah still in limp mode so I took it for a brief drive, cleared fuel rail pressure sensor fault and it wouldn't clear, turned van off to check fuel rail sensor wiring ( one pin earth, middle pin 9.3v with ignition on and other pin 4.98v, thought the 9.3 reading was strange so traced wiring to check for damage but seems ok, went to fire van back up and it won't start
Fault codes p1135, p1517, p0234, p1100, p0380, p1138 all return after cranking and p0190 won't clear, please help Read more
Hi
I purchased a car in 2015. It's had over 10 issues. The dealer can take weeks to repair each time, and in some cases orders parts incorrectly so needs a few goes.
The last issue couldn't be identified by them, so I took it to a local garage who advised the issue. They said it was bad fuel, or a struggling engine. Turned out to be a bent drive shaft.
I complained to my finance company and they did a full investigation including a court approved engineer to confirm the dealer had repaired it incorrectly, which has potentially caused further damage to the car. They even broke something else on the car. I was offered £500 as a gesture but it doesn't cover the ££££s I've encountered so rejected this and opened a case with the financial ombudsman. All costs have been recorded.
Their courtesy car was supplied with a bald tyre, which failed whilst driving. Safety risk!! It took them three weeks to reimburse me after I had to pay for a tyre myself.
I was also forced to purchase insurance myself as they failed to respond in time and didn't know what the situation was. They refuse to reimburse for that insurance due to their lacks of comms.
They then forced me to accept two out of five outstanding repairs on the car or the courtesy car would be taken away and/or action would be taken. I would be left stranded in the countryside. I was under duress accepting that.
Now they have blamed me for a crack that's appear on the courtesy car windscreen and asked me to pay for it. How do they know it was me? They said they checked the car over over before being supplied, which I disputed otherwise a bald tyre wouldn't be present! I hadn't signed anything when the courtesy car was handed over too.
I'll wait for the financial ombudsman to finish the report, but legally where do I go next?
Is a small claims court enough? The ££££s it's cost me along with supplying a courtesy car with a bald tyre and blaming me for the crack...this is more than a small claims court, or is it?
Thanks
Chris

In any Small Claims Court its very unusual for any victor to be able to claim costs (legal)
Winning a case doesnt mean you will be paid, unless perhaps you esculate any awarded claim to the High Court Bailifs who have more power to collect, at a further cost.

I'm interested in buying a used VW Golf from a VW dealer. After having done the vehicle history report I found out the mileage readings were recorded by the BVRLA and RMI MIL'GE.
This must surely mean it was an ex-lease or ex-rental. I took it for a test drive yesterday and it seemed all good. Should the fact that it was probably an ex-rental affect my possible purchase? Should I go for it or steer clear?
Also, the front tyres were pretty worn down, close to legal limit. Is it my right to ask the dealer to change them if I want to buy it? Read more
Bought several ex rental cars in the past from Avis and Hertz.
No problems, and the manufacturers warranty was carried forward.
They used to get rid after 6 months or 10k miles. Whatever came first.
Just ask to see the V5, it will either show the rental company on it as first owner or a finance company if leased. My guess is that it was leased.
Best of luck.
I have a 2011 plate corsa with 52k mileage.

Try giving the clutch a gentle work out, hold it on a hill for about 10-15 seconds with not to many revs, if its oil contamination this may burn it off.
Not far from home though cos if its down to the rivits this might finish it off..:)

On the insurance claim record point, in absence of experience here, OP just needs to call Motability helpline.
Experienced drivers with no personal NCD are ten a penny albeit perhaps mostly women pushed into main driver role by death/illness. Insurers will provide 'starter' or other discounts for this market - OP just needs to shop about a bit. ...
A few months ago I noticed what I can only describe as an electronic grinding noise coming from the car's engine area. It has absolutely no effect on the engine's performance, and seems to happen at random. A mechanic at a local Vauxhall dealer heard it, took the car in, and couldn't replicate the noise. I have worked out that it's not coming from the engine, because the noise occurs when the engine is off but the ignition is on. I finally managed to get a recording of it here (ignore the passing cars): https://youtu.be/U-3sIeS3L-o
Any idea what it might be? As I said, the performance of the car is completely unaffected, and it seems to happen at random. I'd be grateful for any advice, as I currently have no idea whether it's important or not! Read more
It depends what it's doing and why it's doing it- these motors should not run unless you are adjusting the headlamps using the dashboard control.
Unless there is some bizarre procedure that it is programmed to go through when starting the engine-who knows?

Injector faults on these is a very common problem. However you need to be careful with these as the injectors are numbered from the gearbox end.Did you check all the injectors for resistance?there could be more than one in trouble. If i recall, injector resistance should be 12-18 ohms.

Me neither but to be honest I have enough trouble explaining "LOAD TESTING" to tech minded people.
never mind a "civilian"....
