Many thanks. I'll let HJ know and I'm sure he'll check this.

How much water arrives at service stations in the tanker, how much gets in during delivery, and how much while customers fill up (in the rain) ?

I guess it must build up at the bottom of the storage tanks - what is done to remove this, and how often? Is it a frequent problem for drivers?... Read more

Hi,

The vehicle is taking 8 or 9 seconds to start from cold. Starting from warm is fine. Car runs OK otherwise.... Read more

Railroad.

If you're going to buy one make sure it's capable of checking DC amps, as some will only do AC amps. Mine does both. Also although mine will test up to 1200 amps, it's not that accurate when testing below 1 amp. I could do with another one which has a smaller scale and will test milliamps more accurately. I use mine mostly for testing for battery, starting and charging faults.

If you'd done a bit of a search online, you'd have found quite a few reviews of servicingstop - on here and other places - most of which are bad reviews, additional costs, etc.

In future, might I suggest you 'check out' what other people have found a service is like BEFORE you use it.

I’ve had a brief hiss/whine coming from my car this week whenever I release the accelerator so thought I’d post here to see if anyone knew what the issue might be or whether it is likely to be serious since, as I drive to work, it’s not easy for me to take it to a garage and it’s 8 months away from its next MOT/service.... It could be a loose hose / connnection of even a split hose. As you're not technically minded I would suggest you take it to a compentent garage for their diagnosis. I doubt it's anything serious or that cannot be fixed for a modest spend.

Hello everyone and thanks for reading my post.

After several weeks of searching and getting help from this forums as well, I decided to go for a polo 1.2 2005-7. I realized that the price would be something around £2000 to £2400. At the same time I have had a look at my older favourite car which is Peugeot 206 1.1, which I noticed that I can get a fairly much lower milaged one than polo 1.2 with £1000 to £1400 . Both insurance cost is the same for me.

So basically my questions is how do you see both cars and what are the weak points based on your own experience and/or skills? As I never had any of them, however a few friends and relatives were happy with their Peugeot 206 1.4 .

Please let me know if I missed something or you had any questions.

Thanks and best regards,

We're at risk of repeating comments we made on your previous thread. The most important thing is that condition matters more than make or model at this end of the market.

But if you want a Polo you may be better to go for a four-cylinder 1.4. Even them, £2000 is a lot to pay for a 10-year-old car, and a cheaper, well-looked-after Peugeot could be a possibility (French electrics are suspect, but by 10 years old will probably already have gone wrong and been repaired!)....

I have a whinning type noise when first driving the car from stand still often in the mornings when the just started the car. Is it the belt. it seems to happen alot more often lately and more so on wet days

If it's more a screeching noise than whining, then I'd suggest checking the auxillary drive belt first, particularly if you have the aircon on too these wet mornings. Check condition and tension, but for a tenner I'd just go straight for replacement.

In addition to the above I would be looking at the brake light switch. It might have a high resistance short when not being pressed giving partial brake lights. Then when pedal is pressed it makes full contact and brightens the lights.

Pitsea74

It will not rev past 2000rpm and is impossible to start. Had to use good old bump start. The EGR is not stuck and the Maf is clean. No leak back on the injectors and good rail pressure. Timing is good and as compression, had a new timing chain and new turbo with oil feed pipe. Glow plugs are ok (bench test) Flywheel replaced 7 months ago.

Any advice?... Read more
