if you put petrol in a diesel car and don't realize what would be the symptoms?

On the bus today going into Colchester and our lovely "chauffeur" decided to get our heartbeats racing by going through a red light when it had changed way in front of him and he was not actually going all that fast.
Am i being cruel, I reported him to the bus company, as there were elderly people on the bus who could have been hurt. Read more
London buses run reds with the same alacrity alleged of cyclists. The junction of Gt George St with Parliament Sq is one hotspot. Another is the exit from Euston Station's bus stands onto/across Eversholt St.

Our local town centre Morrisons has finally and thankfully put NPR cameras in and imposed a 2.5 hour limit, previously it was very difficult to park for shopping during the day because town workers parked there all day for free, its still free but the limit has stopped the all day parkers taking advantage and leaving no space for Morrisons customers.
On a general note, the various bodies of apparatchiks has succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, their persecution of the solvent motorist shopper has worked well, we, along with many others seldom use the town shops at all (apart from the aforesaid Morrisons) in any town and wouldn't go within miles of a city, between parking charges and idiotic one way systems/corridors have made town centres hell....
I need a new front end pipe section and it is no longer available from Volvo. Any advice about where to obtain one? Read more
Surely most stainless steel systems do not use stainless for the front pipe.
I have a dark blue BMW 320 and love it when it's clean and polished but it attracts scratches like no car I have ever owned before and I am baffled. I always clean it by hand, never use a car wash yet virtually every time I clean it there's another scratch and it's driving me bananas as I just don't know what's causing it.
They are mainly on the bonnet and whilst I have managed to reduce them quite a bit it just seems like a matter of time before another appears. I had a chat with a local body shop about it and they are as baffled as me with their only suggestion that it may be a cat. I struggle to believe (a) that a cat would repeatedly scratch the same car and (b) that a cat's claws could inflict that kind of damage.... Read more
Stormforce. It's a 4 layer cover. Worked well, and stayed on the car even in high winds.
I can't vouch for longevity. I moved house a few months later. New house had garage, cover use ceased.

All the things that seem to be important to you - arm rest, seats, storage are easily quantifiable by sitting in it for 5 minutes at a showroom. Fuel consumption is slightly improved across the range, this is because Honda have abandoned any pretence that the CR-V is a 4x4 and have fitted a weedy, electronically torque limited rear drivetrain - meaning the vehicle is essentially 2WD with a slight assist from the rear when slippage is detected. The older CR-Vs would split drive pretty much 50/50 when the system detected a front to rear wheel speed differential.
The rear wheel drive assist is so feeble that you can't really expect the system to get you out of trouble if the front wheels completely lose traction - so you may as well save your money and buy a two wheel drive MPV and reap the fuel consumption benefits of not lugging the largely superfluous rear drivetrain components around....
According to another website - Mini will bring a production version of its Superleggera roadster concept to market in 2019, with a 227bhp JCW version also planned. Read more
Many have tried and failed and I can't see Mazda quaking in their boots yet. By announcing at this early stage that there will be a high powered version of the Mini seems to suggest that they believe that driving enjoyment is all about brute power. If you have such a philosophy then you are likely to be doomed from the start.
So my boyfriend bought a car yesterday, it seemed fine on the test drive a few days ago, was fine on the drive home but then on a shopping trip later the same day thev engine light came on and it didnt seem full power, after taking it to a garage they said the spark plug had gone, quick and cheap to fix however they said it had broke due to hot oil getting on it, they said something about an oil seal and replacing it would be around £800 (!!! I bought the car for £1200!) however they said it might not happen again or might take a few weeks/months to happen again. The car is an 05 reg with low miles, it only passed MOT 4 weeks ago and has 6 months warranty however the warranty states it will only fix leaking oil seals if 'Rear engine oil seal and gearbox input shaft oil seal causing a major oil leak (dripping oil) necessitating immediate replacement, where removal of the unit is essential (excludes worn collars and shafts).' So I don't think it will cover this :'( the car does currently work now the spark plug is fixed but I'm worried it will happen again and I'll be left with a massive repair bill/unuseable/unsellable car, do you think I have any chance of taking it back to the garage as the fault was clearly there even if they didn't notice and isnt their fault? Read more
As pd has said, basically.
The car is currently working. Therefore you have no grounds to take it back and get a refund. The fear of 'what if' something fails in the next few months would not be viewed as 'reasonable grounds' for rejection, especially given the price paid for the car.

Under 15% I doubt most people would notice anything awry.
Symptoms would generally be a clattering/pinking sound when easing onto the throttle especially when picking up off the overrun. Worse the more you put in. Reduced power but not by much. The car will be hard to start hot or cold. ...
