I have recently become a new trader. I bought some cars at an auction that had been seized due to no road tax. Some still have valid mot and some don't. I've added them to my traders policy but when checking on Askmid they are coming up as uninsured.Does anyone know why?

Hi, just put new front pads on sharen and bled all 4-wheels. Pedal is firm when engine is off. But soon as the engine is started the pedal slowly goes down to the floor. If you pump it, it comes up but again slowly goes down again. Crimped flexable hoses when fitting pads and undone brake nipples to wind back pistons as haynes manual tells you. Yes read all replies, but before the brake pads were put in, it the pedal never went to the floor. I have put in many sets of pads in various cars and vans over the years and never had this problem before, that is why i was asking for advice. But some people make silly comments instead of trying to deal with the problem, i think they know who they are. Thanks for all relevant advice given but the problem still exists. Sparky100.

I have swapped my engine in a y reg 206 gti today as cam belt snapped all went well until I went to run it up and the oil temperature slowly went up to the red when it then said stop on dash board this happened before the fan had cut in for the rads any help or ideas would be much appreciated Read more
An update - I have bridged the switch for rad so it is running all time and got all the air out and everything is fine oil temp is low water not boiling so I need this switch or whatever is reading the water temp

The issue started today when after driving 10 minutes, on the busy road, I slowed down and change gear stick into 1st gear. When tried to change into 2nd gear on speeding up,the gear stick get stuck and refused to go into gear 2 position and then back to gear 1 position. I stopped the car at the nearest point and turned ignition off. Tried the gears and they were working good with ignition off.I waited couple of minutes and started engine again. Tried the gears and they were working fine. drove couple of minutes and then again gear stick stuck and refused to go into the gear positions. Now the situation is, When I start the car, the gears are good. After few minutes drive, they started getting stuck and then I can't change gears. please advise. Read more
That model has a dual mass flywheel which I suspect is failing thus the gear change problem Regards Peter

I had my Panda serviced about 3 weeks ago and since last week I have noticed a very quiet ticking noise coming from the lower part of the engine. It sounds to me like its the hydraulic tappets. I was just curious as to what this noise might be because the car itself is perfect, it pulls away fine, there is no loss of power etc and no misfires etc. I spoke to the garage where I had it serviced and they put an oil additive in it and said that it would need a couple of weeks to work its way around the engine. ... The engine is a 1.1. It definitely sounds like tappet noise. Apart from this, nothing else has happened to it. I mean its my first car and its been well looked after, only one owner from new etc.
Hi I have a 1990 Bedford rascal camper which has been relatively ok, I decided to change spark plugs,points, condenser,rotor arm and distributor cap to give it a service and it started no problems fine.When I tried to start it today it started ok was running for a awhile then stopped. I tried to start it but it just won't fire up...., I checked plugs, ht leads and re checked points gap but nothing just can't get my head around it I'm no mechanic only a DIY merchant it was running ok before the change just took a while to start that's why I decided it was overdue for some new plugs etc.just need advice Read more
Finally after pulling my hair out...she starts...! Yippee!! I checked various wires wanted to know what was going where, I noticed two wires attached to the condenser one was obviously a live feed and the other was a ground wire that split into two on further investigation noticed that this was going to the immobiliser switch which is down in the middle consol, somehow the contacts on the switch we're touching making it dead,so after disconnecting them from the feed the rascal started. I must have unintentionally short circuited the connectors while raising the front seats and putting them back again.......what a prized plonker I am oh well accidents happen.....thanks for all the advice on the bedford rascal much appreciated...I knew I had done points and everything else right just couldn't work it out....next time it happens check all wiring with diagrams etc....cheers

I've heard using Audi TT wishbones is quite a good upgrade, improving road holding over stock wishbones
If you fit non standard wishbones you will need to infirm your insureres. They will consider it a modification and may increase your premium....
I know all automatics "creep" as soon as you put them in gear - I've driven automatics for 20 years - but this is ridiculous!

The possibility and detrimental effect of a vacuum leak still applies though, and would cause your symptoms if you had one.

Perhaps you should ask your insurance company/broker?Cars added to traders policy may take a few days to appear on the Mid.
