Hi, I'm headed out to a 10 day long trip later this summer where I won't be able to charge my M240 battery using usual methods - I won't have access to external power sources at all. I will take some spare batteries but it would be tragic if I ran out of juice.
The standard charger does have a 12 v car adapter socket, I wondered if anyone has successfully used a solar charger for this? Read more

I would also check the DMF as on my dad's identical car there was no clue except poor starting, plus no indication on OBD since it's purely mechanical. By 150k it's a most likely culprit too. Thank goodness it was covered by warranty as the bill ran comfortably to 2 grand GBP. Much later it turned itself off while my mum was opening the garage door. It failed to start until next morning, which it did with no fuss. Diagnostics showed low injection pressure so suspect delivery pump...three weeks later it was standing on a dealer forecourt...
Just had my Audi A4 Advant (53 plate) into Audi dealers today, after diagnostics they informed me the CCU needed replacing at £600.82 notes.
Could someone please advise what I need to look for as I would imagine there are several CCU out there and which one is specific for my car.
Also where is it located on my car
Problems that are occurring is central locking not working off key fob
Thank you very much in advance Read more
They can be re-coded with VCDS to enable or disable functions. However, you will need some knowledge of hexadecimal (base 16) systems that computers use to enable you to successfully do it. You may find coding information on the VW/Audi forums. some funtions can be enabled/disabled by simply using drop down menus in 'Adaptions' on VCDS.
My daughter is considering Leasing a Zoe, but a friend of a friend had a bad experience with hers. She was driving along at 60mph in a stream of traffic and it just stopped!!!, luckily there was no accident but the guy behind her was non too pleased to say the least
The Renault dealership could offer no explanation, so she has rejected the car.... Read more
At a guess, the problem was probably caused by the 'Renault' badge on the back of the car.
In all seriousness though, it's impossible and pointless to even try. A poor piece of assembly, a programing glitch, electrical interference from an unshielded component ... or even something as simple as the driver not looking and checking the car's battery level and running out of power !...
Hi all, I had the misfortune/stupidity to prang a lovely newish looking a4... Slight damage to bumper... Any ideas how much this should cost me, assuming the owner wants s new bumper rather than repair?
Thanks Read more
Whether it needs a new part depends how much it is pranged. If it just paint damage potentially less than £200 for a proper prep, plastic primer and spray.
If the bumper is hit and cracked possibly up to four figures.
The 2008 Zetec Climate version has height-adjustable driver's seat but the Style has not. Is it feasible to find a used height-adjustable seat from the breakers network and to fit it?
But on an alleged Zetec Climate Ka 2008 car I looked at, the height-adjust mechanism felt a bit naff and under-engineered - any comments, please? Read more
A 2008 Ford KA could be either the current model or the original one.
The current one is based on the same floor as the Fiat 500 and built in Poland....
I've seen spy shots, but it doesn't take any imagination to figure out what it will look like. Read more
Exactly like every other one but a wee bit smaller?
According to an article in the Sunday Times, the police can now issue on the spot penalties for offences such as tailgating without having to go to court, meaning that many more such tickets can be given. Sounds good.
Unfortunately one chap, a car journalist, was done for undertaking, when there was a long queue behind a lane hog. He found that his insurance premiums rocketed, and he could not hire cars. He could not get cars to review from Porsche et al. The problem is that the code for the undertaking offence is a generic driving without due care and attention, which encompasses some quite dangerous antics. Hence it is seen as serious.... Read more

I recently purchased an 08 plate Honda civic with the 2.2 CDTI engine but rather unfortunately some idiot decided to crash into me and therefore the car has been written off.
I'm tempted to just buy another civic with the pay out but wondering if there are any viable alternatives. The civic was my first diesel and had oodles of torque so would like something similarish in power.... Read more
I agree with focussed, I have one and now would not change apart from the new Civic 1.6 Diesel but thats a few years away yet.
now done 30k in 18 months since I bought it without a hiccup.....fingers crossed it stays that way

You can get solar chargers that dont need direct sunlight so if its cloudy it will still charge, I think Maplins sell them
