Hi all,
first time on here cars booked into mechanic tomorrow but was after second opinions. We drove back just about last night after smelling eggy smell, we had windows open but thought it was from outside not sure now as after the warning light flashed on the dial. After consulting manual it said reduces speed only stop and call for help if the light stay on permantently - it didnt so we just about got home driving slowly and strugglibg up some inclines. Does this ring bells with anyone out there? i just did cursory search and cat convertors problems popped up....i hear these can be bit pricey... heres hoping!?... Read more

Obviously an electrical glitch. Turn them to the "OFF" position then turn them back on when it rains.
I am considering changing my car (xtype 2005 diesel, had since 2009).
Although I am only small at 5"2' I generally like a larger car. Although so long as its not your bog standard car and bigger than a corsa, Im not too fussed. Just can't decide what car!!... Read more
With a limited budget I suggest you look at Japanese cars with petrol engines. For example - Toyota Auris / Avensis; Mazda 3 / 6; Honda Civic / Accord.
Alternatively look at a petrol Ford (Focus / Mondeo) as there are lots of them arounnd, all better to drive than the equivalent Vauxhall.
I cannot close or open the sunroof. It will raise up a couple of inches when I try and open it and when I try and close it it gets stuck in a loop and returns to the risen position. The sunroof is wonky. Higher on the drivers side. I have tried spraying sicone lubricant around the sunroof cassette.
I have read about tapping it shut with a hammer and screwdriver or taking it to a dealer and them fixing it but charging a fortune to do so. I understand lots of Minis have had this problem with their sunroof but BMW/Mini are not taking responsibility.
I just want to close the sunroof for now!
Does anyone have any suggestions!
Getting desparate now the summer storms have started!

As above.Probably the most troublesome add on ever to be fitted to a car.All makes are affected and can cost bundles to fix.Do not try and force anything,it could make it double worse.Depending on your location you could try surreysunroofs.co.uk
Hi, first time on this forum although read the reviews plenty of times.
I'm in the market for a new used car for £5-6K. I've narrowed it down to a Focus, with the Leon and Mazda3 as reserves if I see a good deal. Golf, a possibility. My main issue now is finding a dealer in Glasgow/Central Belt with a good reputation from online reviews.... Read more

Hi there, I have an xtype 2 litre sport. Nice car, I have had it since 2006 and service it each year at a garage. It began cutting out under load and will restart. Also occasionally after a short journey it won't turn over although my battery has tested as good. A local garage has offered to replace my injectors for £450 and if my problems aren't solved they will put my old ones back in and charge £50 total.
I paid £5,800 in 2006 and reckon it is worth around £1500 now. In the last two years I replaced the dual mass fly and clutch and fluid pump and egr valve. The car has done 139K miles.
Do I repair or sell? Any advice greatly welcome. Read more
Thanks for the advice. I did a bit of internet digging and found that my xtype is on recall for short circuit on the injector nut. Car booked in next Monday. fingers crossed hey. I will come back and post on here ;)

I suspect the wooshing noise might be a split in one of the turbo pipes.
These don't always show up until the turbo is on boost, ie when the engine is under load, so it's often difficult to find....
My rear wiper will not do a full sweep of the window

A flashing MIL means the ECM has detected an engine misfire. Ignition coil faults are common in these and may be your cause.
