My polo tends to stall on depressing the clutch whilst slowing when approaching a junction or roundabout. Happens about once a fortnight always under 30mph. I've always managed to restart the engine and pull away in time. It's been happening for at least 6 months. Any ideas on source of problem and if likely to be expensive to resolve? Read more

P.S. Coil pack, valve and cam chain are common problems with this engine. If you don't have any rattles and your mis-fire is intermittent then it's likely to be coil pack

Hi all,
I am hoping to purchase an used jaguar x type 2.1 v6 petrol engine on a 54 plate.
The price is £2695 with 61,000 on the clock and full service history.
Can anyone help me with details about this car,is there anything to check over at the dealers before purchase and anything else I need to know with anything electrical problems that could be associated with the x type.
This will be my first ownership of a jaguar as have always had fords,
Many thanks for all your help as always

For long distance trips best car I have ever had. However it had lots of problems, but all associated with the 2.2 diesel, so I only owned it 18 months,

There are excellent owners club sites who will give some real life ownership stories.

Can hear intermittent metal to metal grinding noise from back (only with window open) at about 40 mph, not related to pedal/clutch use. Maybe relates to road rise/fall/turning. On for about a second & off again, maybe 2-3 times a minute. Length of grinding is increasing so getting worried. My mechanic cannot hear it. Has been going on for over a year. Any ideas about likely cause appreciated. Read more

I recently bought a second-hand Nissan Micra Spirita 2006 in dark grey, but it's missing a decor piece off the front passenger door handle over the lock. Any idea what I should be searching for or where the best places to look might be?

You don,t need the complete handle.just go to a Nissan dealer and ask for the plastic cover that fits over the passenger door lock.probably comes in primer paint and less than £10.

You would have thought that anyone with even 1/2 a brian would have tought of that. But some may find it surprising that a Nissan dealer sells Nissan parts.

There's no need to be rude. I was just inquiring as to whether there was a specific name for the part I needed, or whether anyone knew of any easier/cheaper places to procure one; you shouldn't assume everyone is local to a Nissan dealership....

Three months ago, took delivery of a Skoda Octavia Scout through a leasing company, however payment is to Skoda Finance.
As yet, they have not taken the initial deposit or subsequent monthly payments, despite calls and emails to them, notifying them of the issue.
Are they in breach of contract?? Read more

It strikes me that the OP might want to put the money by (in a separate account?) in case the leasing company want to catch up at some point.

I have an 1.6 Atra sxi. Yesterday my boot suddenly stopped working. the washers still work so I don't think its a fuse issue.

I had the same issue couple years back, that time I simple opened the boot from the inside, opened it up, and cleaned the crap that had built up - worked fine.

this time is different, the button still seems to click when I press it in - just nothing happens.

I also can not open it up from the inside, I put the screwdriver inside, but it doesn't turn to open. seems as though that's jammed up.

anyone out there had similar experience?

Any ideas on a fix?

Thanks - Callum.
