Thanks for your advice.

Please don't just thank us, tell us what the diagnosis and cure was - that's what makes this site interesting....

The Jimny is my first 4x4 but when in the fields trying to turn a trailer I find the whole plot locking up! It only seems to want to go in a strait line which for a 4x4 is utterly useless.

Is this normal or is my Jimny bust?

I too have never owned a small Suzi, but assume as MT that's its a traditional selectable 4WD which means its 2WD in normal running.

In 4WD you are locking the front and rear props, as said above no centre diff....

Judging by the quantity of complaints on HJ about the DVLA's shoddy service recently, the government needs to listen a bit harder and longer.

Following other posts on here in the early days of the new system, I opened an account and loaned them £10 to get the benefit of lower price crossings...

and make sure i didn't have to worry about forgetting... surely nothing could go wrong... first two crossings deducted nicely, third one after 48hrs ... Read more

Our Focus Titanuim is a great all-round car but fuel consumption remains disappointing. Despite having fuel-saving technology as well as an extra gear, our old Mk2 Focus was a better car to drive as well as being far more economical (58mpg -v- 51mpg). How can this be?

So imagine my surprise when I just handed back a hire vehicle - a Focus with the same engine. Over the past two weeks I covered just under 700 miles, average mpg? 62mpg. The rental car had done similar miles, same model year, same engine, basically the same car (Zetec S -v- our titanium) driving on same roads, same driving style.... Read more

The wheels and tyres are getting ridiculous !...

Help please... My n/s/f door lock has ceased to operate, it has been checked out and the fault lies within the mechanices of the lock and not the electrics.... we cannot open the door, so how do we remove the lock....?????? Read more

I'm thinking of changing out the very old Saab whcih is reaching the end of its life for another not quite so old Saab. In the old days you could pitch up at a dealer, buy something, part exchange the old one, ring up broker and get insurance transferred on the spot. Then just drive home on the remanants of the old tax disc.

Can't do that now. It's still possible to do the insurance transfer instantly, but how long does it take for this to be registered so that one can tax the new buggy before you drive off in it? I don't want to have to make two visits as the replacement car may be some way away.... Read more

As BT, my wife bought her mx, paid with a debit card and taxed it on line there and then at the dealership using the new keeper part of the V5C. Apparently you can also do it on an automated phone service 24/7

Hi I have a 2005 Citroen C3 diesel 1560cc CO (g/km 0.188) can you please tell me what my VED/ road fund licence will be. oldfeller@outlook.com Read more

A point which seems to have been lost in the statement "for older vehicles, there will be no change" is that this legislation means that people with older cars paying historically higher rates of VED are stuck paying that for the duration of the life of the car whilst those with new cars drop back to the new standard rate after 6 years. For example I have a 10 year old Mercedes 500 in which I do around 6000 miles per year for which I have to pay £535 annual VED. Someone who buys a new Ferrari today pays £2000 VED in the first year and then £450 for five years followed by £140 a year. How can this be considered to be even vaguely equitabl

I wholeheartedly agree with you.I have a similar problem with my 10 Year old Saab Sport Wagon, earlier and later modelsattract a lower VED for the same emissions, 230g/km.I do approximately 4000 miles a year. We do need to do something to try redress this grossly unfair system.
