Hi all,
I am importing my 2007 VW Passat 3.2L 4M into the UK.... Read more
I suggest that you look for the UK or european distributor for Depo lamp units, they are replacement lamp units made in Taiwan and are are good quality.
They are E marked and are much cheaper than oem parts prices....

Hello all,
Desperately need your advice!
We've been living overseas for the last four years but will return to the UK next month. We are a family of four (1 and 5 year old) and will be living near Gloucester but travelling to London at least once a fortnight. The car will also be used for the school run and commute. We have been driving a XC90, which we bought new and loved, but won't be bringing back to the UK.
We can't decide which car to go for and whether to buy new or used. We are likely to be in the UK for 2-4 years before being posted overseas again.
Hopefully this might help to inform your advice.
- budget: £18-21k
- prefer small SUV/crossover type - got used to luxury and high seating of XC90 (but not fuel efficiency!)
- automatic
- prefer petrol but open to diesel
- 6-8k miles per year
- main qualities: comfort, safety, style
- max age for used: two years
We have so far considered Qashqai (£22k for 1.2 petrol new but unsure of resale value and second hand models scarce); Mazda CX-5 (looks good but costly new); CR-V (lots of kit for the price but costly new and poor reviews); RR Evoque (love the looks but costly even used and not a lot of kit for money); and Kia Sportage (looks good but not the best comfort levels or drive quality).
Very happy to reconsider any of the above or something else.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
I have a Honda Civic 1.5 Automatic VTEC hatchback, year 2000 (Japan Domestic Market import), 163,000kms. The engine is a D153B. LA-EU1. Type G.
The fuel consumption has progressively got worse and I am getting between 23 and 25 mpg. Most driving is around town but the car does get some further runs of around 1 hour.
The car has been serviced by either a local garage or Honda since I owned the car as per the recommended schedule and major work carried out by Honda e.g. cambelt/water pump and a faulty Top Dead Centre sensor.
Honda recently looked at this fuel consumption problem. They replaced the spark plugs, checked ignition timing, valve timing and clearances and fuel mixture which were all within manufactures specs. They checked the air filter and air intake system and then carried out a ECU clear and re-learn.
They ran injector cleaner through a full tank of fuel.
They checked the emissions and found nothing untoward and there were no engine errors or warnings when they plugged in their computer.
The car starts and runs fine, goes up hill without issue and there is no smoke from the car.
I have checked for leaks but cant find anything.
There has been no improvement in fuel consumption with this work done.
I asked about the Lambda sensor, one of which is located at the bottom of the manifold. They said it didnt report any errors.
I am hoping you may have come across this problem in the past and might be able to help or recommend some avenues to check.
Thank you for your help. Read more
I agree check the simple things that you can do yourself
tyre pressures (when cold) , are any of the wheel brakes binding ?is the handbrake dragging ? Is the rear silencer box in good condition internally ?...
I have been looking at some used cars on the cheapmotors.co.uk website but can see no information on what Cheapmotors is and how it operates. no reviews either.
Maybe it is just an advertising site like Autotrader?... Read more
RobJP - thanks, very helpful.

I worked for a company in the motor business where many of us had quite nice company cars. A couple of people had Sierra XR 4*4s which had been tuned and had aftermarket belt driven superchargers - they went very nicely, though they needed servicing every 3,000 miles or so.
One day I was going somewhere with the chairman's son in one of them. As we went through one of the tunnels on the M25 he said, "Watch this", flicked the ignition off, put his foot on the clutch, pumped the throttle and then turned it back on, lifted the clutch and basically bump started it at about 90 mph in the outside lane. There was a huge explosion and a burst of flame from the exhaust, which in the tunnel was pretty spectacular.
