If someone managed to boil the brake fluid, you wonder what their maintenance regime is like.

In my case neglect was certainly a factor, with the fluid long-overdue for a change....

Just seen an interesting piece on Qashqia tyre wear. If you want to keep your 19 inch wheels the look at www.nankangtyre.co.uk/. They are only one of three companies making this size and rating of tyre. I have them on a +2 and am very impressed.

Interestingly when in discussion with Nissan they did agree that the speed rating of the tyres as supplied was very safe and tyres with a lower speed rating could be used if they meet the legal requirements. They do not specify them as they have tested them. Read more

Hi

I started my citroen xantia P reg estate out side my house about 3 weeks ago and it started no problem. Stopped outside the surgery started no problem. Parked in supermarket car park in the shop about an hour came out and there was no power in the battery at all completely dead had a jump start got home checked the car about 15 min later dead again. Charged battery and no problem since had battery checked nothing wrong no electrical shorts, any idea what could have caused this? someone said it was the alarm sticking. Read more

I would agree. The only things that could flatten a battery that quickly are either a short circuit alternator or the glow plugs stuck on.

After the shortest of drives barely using the brakes the alloy wheels especially the fronts are covered in black dust & it's driving me nuts. Go on a short holiday & at the end of the first day the wheels look rubbish, so I take a collapsable bucket & sponge & pathetic it might be wash the wheels in the hotel/B & B car park!!!

Am advised that the large ventilated discs acerbate the problem, that ceramic pads are available from Australia at a price & difficult to fit, & that Redstuff pads, more easily available but only for the fronts, will minimise dust. ... Read more

They used to make thin metal plates to go behind the wheel and collect the dust whether you can still buy them I wouldn't know ,I have a pair on the front of my my BMW E39 and the alloys are like new .

And if you drive it hard the brake cooling will be severely affected. Ever suffered 'brake fade'?...

The estate looked fine to me. The hatch was much better after the facelift. Most estates look better than their saloon partners. Much harder to stuff up a two box design.

The intercooler cools the incoming air, they can leak a little oil if the crimped type is fitted, but this would normally have been replaced under warranty for an uprated version that does not leak.

Oil cooler i thought was air cooled, so i would get the headgasket checked....

Hello. I am new to posting to this forum, though have visited for advice on many occasions.

I would just welcome some independent opinons. I currently own a Honda Jazz ES (2012). I bought it from new (pre-registered) in September 2012.... Read more

Sore knees? i'll raise you ankles seizing, various artritic problems showing the ugly face, every strand of hair turning grey, hard lumps of skin on some knuckles, backache for many years, umpteen old injuries and i suppose what would now be termed RSI's coming home to roost.

Still beats the hell out of the alternative mind, and absolutely true, i still know nothing of any value..:-)
