Hi guys, First post here, I'm thinking of buying a BMW compact over the next few days however I've been doing a little research on both the 2.0 and 2.5 engines and I could do with some advice from some enthusiasts.
The dilemma is that the 2.0 engine is the n54 and can develop problems with the chain tensioner and jumping teeth which can be costly and fatal for the engine. ... Read more

No, I don't think it's spam: the OP has been a member here since 2011.
Does anyone have experience of the site mentioned?
Over the past couple of days I have noticed I have no power when I put my foot down. I have changed oil and filter as it was due and thought this could of affected it, fault still there. Done a DPF forced regen and reset. Still no power. After doing the oil change I was sure the turbo kicked in for a very short period and I have just taken the car out again and no turbo. With foot flat to the floor just a slow gradual increase in speed as though is wasn't a turbo car. Stuck a OBD reader on and no codes shown. Don't really want to spend a lot on it as I am meant to be getting rid of it soon but one of the reasons I liked this car was if I put my foot down it went and now nothing. Any advise would be great. Can't hear anything unusual from the turbo. Read more
Hi,
Our 7 year old Equitrek horse box on a Peugeot Boxer chassis has about 15000 on the clock and is kept outside. It is running on the orginal Firestone tyres dated 2008 that have plenty of tread but I'm concerned about age deterioration in the rubber. Would you please advise whether the tyres need replacing and if so when? Read more
Thanks for coming back...good example to some posters who ask then vanish.
Inner wheels are difficult to examine properly, it's a case of getting down and dirty and in a typical busy stables isn't going to be a priority which it should, maintaining tyre pressures are doubly important on double tyred hubs as a visual check isn't good enough, too easy for a tyre to be low on pressure for months on end and it's partner is doing all the work, then when one goes it takes the other (which was nearly flat anyway) out too....
In answer to the above, one reader answered
"Years ago I was told that it was damaging to turbo diesel engines to leave the engine ticking over for more than a few minutes because the oil that lubricates the turbo charger drains from the bearings and the seals dry out, you should only leave it on tickover speed a little just before you park up for the day."... > It would be an interesting experiment to see how many times your warmed-up focus egine could be started and immediately stopped with a tip-top new 60ah battery - I might be persuaded to bet that it could indeed do it 300 times!
When i first changed the fuel filter on my Diesel Merc i discovered that it didn't have a hand primer and the official way to self bleed it was crank it till it fired, which must have been nearly 2 minutes....

My guess is that I think your right any Ins Co will attempt to minimise it's claims - thats a given. Conflict of Interest - true but I belive they would assign a different Claims Underwriter to each party and anyway will have in place procedures to mitigate this. Aka 'Chinese walls' so tbh I wouldn't concern myself with this.
Do not get a sleazy 'Claims Management Company involved'. ClaimsRus etc who will now be phoning you for the rest of your natural.......
I was struck by a vehicle moving from their driveway onto the main road on which I was travelling. They have admitted full responsibility and their insurance company has contacted me advising that their insured has admitted responsibility.
The car has been removed to a garage and is awaiting inspection by their company. As no claim will need to be made under my policy, I am worried about advisng my insurance company and ending up with a claim logged against my vehicle. ... Read more
Write in big letters "THIS IS NOT A CLAIM". My father in law did just this, but had to take it to small claims all the same. The insurance company insisted it counted as a claim, needless to say my father in law one!
We have a VW Cady and steering wheel started peeling of at the bottom right after 2 years (24,000 miles) of usage. It is rather starge that we have never seen it before.

>Soon as the vehicle detects the slightest slip in a drive tyre it will cut the power.
Unless totally stuck is that the required action to remove excessive wheel spin and the power is reduced not cut. So unless you need to rock the car out of deep snow leave all on is the safest option. Most modern cars electonics seam to do a pritty good job with a light foot and no very light & careful breaking....
