My daughter recently bought a ’60 Reg’ (Sep ’2010) 1.2i Petrol Vauxhall Corsa Exclusiv 5dr from a car supermarket. Whilst generally happy with the car it has an intermittent fault which when happens makes the car virtually impossible to drive. This has happened some 10-12 times over the last 2 months and seems to be occurring more often now that the colder weather has arrived.

When it does happen it is always on the first drive of the day (having been parked up overnight) and manifests itself by the ‘Service vehicle soon’ light coming on which in turn causes the engine to dramatically lose power (or vice versa) resulting in it having to be driven in much lower gears than normal. Strangely if the car is left parked up for a couple of hours the problem rectifies itself and then drives normally for the rest of the day. ... Read more

Hi, We bought a used 1995 Honda Accord for 500 quid and it only had 58,000miles on it. We're very happy with it. It has a remote access device in the car and, like new cars, you just press a button on your key fob to open and lock the doors. However, the signal is so poor you have to put the key fob to the window to lock or unlock the doors. Is it fixable and would it be worth it? Thanks! Read more

I am buying a new car. Do I HAVE to have number plates displaying the European Union logo on the left of the plate please? Read more

Not quite true;of all the EU countries,France has never rescinded the requirement-you might get an awkward policeman one day.

I think the argument in one corner of French officialdom is that the requirement to display a national badge is imposed by treaty and the EU rules cannot override that....

I have a thirty year old son who has just passed his test. He wants to spend a couple of thousand on a car. Cars of this age seem so unreliable. Someone said buy a Seat Ibiza but we can't find any where we live. He is well over six feet tall so the smaller cars are no use. He learned to drive in a Renault Magane. Any suggestions please? Thanks Read more

Agree with the comments re: small cars. I'm six foot and find my wifes 2008 Mini very comfortable for long journeys, wheres 2005- onwards Ford Focus gave me terrible backache! Its all down to the design and shape of seats and your personal 'makeup' and preferences!

Its it normal to be getting bad condensation inside the car on a cold night or a rainy night? Its a brand new car and i didn't expect this to be happening. I can clear the windows drive a 2minute journey to a shop and come out an hour later and have to clear the windows all over again Read more

Mine did this the other night. I noticed my air vent setting was set to 'recirculate'. After I changed that, it was fine.
