Hi there, had this car since June. 71000 miles, serviced i.a.w. service book have 2 prob's with the car.

Hi albeck, some of these later Fords are having problems with the instrument clusters, this also relates to immobiliser faults as the immobiliser passes through the cluster. If the red light flashes rapidly there is definitely an immobiliser related issue. Be careful not to condemn the engine ECU as P060C is a fault code for the Engine Control Unit which Fords term as a PCM Powertrain Control Module. This fault code could be misleading and be nothing to do with the problem you have. It definitely needs further investigation into what the actual fault is! Unfortunately there is no quick fix with some of these systems. Kind Regards Kev
Part of my journey into work involves a 10 mile trip along the A420 from Swindon towards Oxford. The road is single carriageway on this section and occasionally I hit the end of a slow moving queue of traffic caused by (typically) lorries waiting for an opportunity to overtake a cyclist (the road can be quite narrow at points and if coming around a bend the lorry is, quite correctly, waiting until the view ahead is clear).
I am not anti-cyclist and in my opinion they have as much right to use this road as any other road user does, however I do get a tad annoyed that they don't take the opportunity to move off the road at regular intervals to let the traffic past. I also fear for their life - I for one wouldn't dream of cycling along a major A road during quiet periods, let alone rush hour traffic times.... Read more
From a cycling perspective nearside filtering is dangerous and ill advised. The usual gutter hazards of rubbish, degraded surface, low visual profile, grates and slippery white/yellow paint have bailing passengers and unpredictable turns superimposed. It's much more sensible to go down the outside.
But guess where the Councils lay 18 inched of green paint and call it 'cycle provision'?...
Oh dear, it would seem that some pedestrians are as pi**ed off with cyclists as we are! Read more
Unusual form of dogging BT, did you use a premier footballers sat nav to locate this hidden gem..:0(
My daughter was parked on a London street (residential area and therefore narrow road) on the off side facing the traffic as the last car in a series of parking bays parallel to the kerb. She had a transit type van in front of her so she had no forward visibility. She reversed backwards about 3 feet to enable her to drive out of the space. As she did so a pick-up truck zoomed down the road towards her and turned left at the 90 degree bend immediately behind her and as a result struck the side of her car denting the side and ripping off the near side rear light cluster.
The insurance company say it is automatically her fault because she was reversing. Surely it cannot automatically be her fault when the pick up truck effectively clipped the kerb as it went round the corner and couldn't avoid putting an 18 - 24 inch dent in her side ahead of her rear lights. Isn't there any obligation on the pick up driver to be going at a reasonable speed, particularly at a 90 degree bend, and paying sufficient attention to driving conditions and other road users to avoid scraping the sides of a car parked in the street? On the basis she had parked against the traffic flow and on a junction, a road traffic offence, Further reversing without a clear view, are all factors that are going against you. The other driver was clearly careless but unfornately you have no way to prove that!
Hi

Thanks everybody for your advice,i don't know much about cars and whenever i hear a noise i tend the panic and see £ signs.I think my main concern was it could be something which needed urgent attention and as i my wife mainly uses the car to ferry the kids about i dont want then using it if it turned out to be dangerous.
I will go back and see the mechanic at the garage and see if they can get to the bottom of it....

I have just had th heat shields from the underside fall off onto the exhaust of my 2004 2.2 Estate. The fitting kit coroded and the extra burden caused the whole thing to shift.
Sounded like the exhaust had developed a massive problem or worse. It is silly but take it for a free exhaust check first....
I am edeavouring to find out if the wheels can be changed between these two models. BMW have not been helpful.
I am just replacing my BMW and have a spare set of winter tyres and wheels for the old E91 model. Read more
As Skidpan, but the acid test is usually at the front, if they're going to be a problem thats where it wil be, the only way to absolutely sure is to fit them.
Either caliper clearance, or the tyre catching the suspension or hitting the inner wings or indeed the wheelarch itself on full lock, even if it fits you won't be 100% certain till the suspension has nearly bottomed out in a dip taken at speed and the tyre didn't catch the wheelarch....

Super, thanks for the advice.
Had its 70000 minor service about 2 months ago, the jerking has been intermitent since i've had the car, obviously never played up when it went back to the supplying garage within the 30 days warranty. At the service the turbo clips were checked as apparently they can loosen and cause problems. Mechanic didn't speak too kindly of this engine....
