Havent tried the Avensis Tourer Petrol, but its heading my next 'hack' car list right now.
I have tried the Verso Tourer petrol Multidrive S (same engine) and didnt find that underpowered at all. Its no ball of fire, granted, but did its job as I expected, in that unflustered way that good Japanese petrols always seem too. ...

Hi,
Just went to the garage and my rear off side brakes were all corroded. They said the wheel wasn't turning properly. I know nothing about cars but it looked pretty rusty. Apparently it needs full new assembly - housing, discs calipers etc. The bloke told me the parts are £320 + labour so £550 in total. Is this right? Seems like a hell of a lot for a brake. He also said the kit covers both sides which sound a bit dodgey to me. Have I been ripped off here? Any help appreciated. Read more
Could it be wheel bearings/hubs as well. You could also go to kwikfit or national tyres for free quote, and kwik fit give a lifetime warranty so no need to pay for discs pads again. price for all from indie would be fair, don;t forget it IS 10 years old, and easier for rear calipers to stick as less use. my 30 month old chevrolet had sticking rear pad, but got away with just pads...........

The sliding temperature contol is doing strange thngs.. If its put hard left, I get cold air conditioning. If I move it even slightly towards the right, I get constant hot air... Car is thus either too cold or too hot all the time! Any ideas would be welcome... Read more

I use valet parking at Manchester airport at lot, but I do not use an agent website, rather I book with the company I use directly.
If you book with a company directly and get personal recommendations, you should not have a problem. I used a agent website for Liverpool Airport last year and it was a poor experience.
At first I did pointedly note the mileage, but now I don't bother.
You may ask why bother with valet parking, but it far nicer and no more expensive than parking in a remote car park and waiting for a bus to the terminal. Also on the return home, the car is waiting for us at the terminal, engine running and interior getting warm; a more than welcome sight when it is 10:30pm in Manchester but we are coming from a timezone where it is half past midnight.
Hi Everyone, have not been on here for a while!

I do get the BMW ultimate driving tag but I fail to see how any of the 1, 3 or 5 series could even qualify as good looking, but beauty is in the eye.....
I had a 323i back in the 80's after a succession of front wheel drive cars. I spun it in a BIG way into a tree on a bend I used to take much faster in a Mk 2 Golf GTi which on reflection was the better car. I know nowadays electronics intervene when you need them but rwd can be tricky to master. I don't particularly like VWs now but nevertheless a 2.0 TFSi GTI would get a look in for me, one of the better 4cyliner engines around. I'd probably go for an Octavia vRS same engine but the badge would probably offend most BMW wannabees.

Capita do not run DVLA - DVLA is an executive agency of the Department of Transport.
Capita did win a five year vehicle excise duty enforcement contract with DVLA back in 2011, but had this taken off them after 18mths. The contract has been won back by NSL.
