Went from Bristol a couple of years back and mileage was 40 miles more when i returned, had used "off airport" parking a bit down the A38 toward bristol, when i complained, told how do you know? " noted mileage", now use official on site parking, bit more expensive but take my keys with me and walk to terminal.

Flying from East Midlands on Sunday. Simply pre-booked a place at the on site parking. Bus ride to terminal but no great problem.

Not worth risk of these sort of capers TBH - would rather DIY.

Someone we know payed extra for the private parking and valet and their brand new discovery.

It had clearly been used as a shuttle bus to and fro from the airport and had muddy footprints on the rear carpet mats despite nobody having sat in the back before.

I always use the official parking since then, park myself, take the keys and catch the shuttle bus.

Colleague had his brand new car 'disappear' from Luton airport. Parking company told him to claim off his insurance, but they were given the keys. Took ages to resolve.

If I were to use this service I would leave a big piece of paper on the dash showing that I had noted the mileage.

Reminds me of a story in Honest John years ago when a chap was told by the garage that his Jag's service wasn't finished by Friday night but he could have it monday. When he picked it up it had the franchise owner's golf clubs in the boot aaaagahagaaakakakak

I went with my then boss a few years ago to collect his volvo estate from a northolt/south ruislip volvo main dealer, when we ot home realised they had left a door in the back, a house door that is. Red faced or what?

If you don't mind me asking, BT, how was it resolved ultimately?

It was resolved in his favour, eventually. I presume the parking company had to cough up as they didn't have a leg to stand on and I wouldn't think his insurance would be liable as it was stolen with keys.

used meet and greet for last six years two or three times a year and never had any issues whatsoever (at Heathrow and Gatwick)

I use valet parking at Manchester airport at lot, but I do not use an agent website, rather I book with the company I use directly.

If you book with a company directly and get personal recommendations, you should not have a problem. I used a agent website for Liverpool Airport last year and it was a poor experience.

At first I did pointedly note the mileage, but now I don't bother.

You may ask why bother with valet parking, but it far nicer and no more expensive than parking in a remote car park and waiting for a bus to the terminal. Also on the return home, the car is waiting for us at the terminal, engine running and interior getting warm; a more than welcome sight when it is 10:30pm in Manchester but we are coming from a timezone where it is half past midnight.
