I suspect that with them having a large legal department and taking folk to court in large numbers the situation of "just bin the paperwork when it arrives and it will all go away" may change a bit ???

"Just ignore and it will go away" has not been the advice for over 12 months and POPLA doesn't need a lawyer. Parking Eye also just this week been absolutely spanked at small claims court.

Every defence to POPLA where the person asks the company to demonstrate genuine pre estimate of loss has has been found in the drivers favour, because fact is private companies can't prove that £50+ for parking for 5 minutes is a pre estimate of loss they have suffered.

The worrying thing about all is that Capita also run the DVLA which provides registered keeper details.

TBH the whole thing stinks and just like clamping it will take 10 or so years before it is realised that the whole private parking system is a complete and utter scam.

Capita Buys Parking Eye - Auristocrat

Capita do not run DVLA - DVLA is an executive agency of the Department of Transport.

Capita did win a five year vehicle excise duty enforcement contract with DVLA back in 2011, but had this taken off them after 18mths. The contract has been won back by NSL.
