My post is about Dacia's pricing.

I recently went to a dealer to see the Dacia range and to see if they will suit our needs.
I asked the dealer if the prices I get on the website are the same prices I could get from them, or if there is a bit or room negotiating the price with the dealer. He did answer that dealer prices are the same as web prices since they want a blanket price, no ,matter where you buy it?... Read more

Already posted in the Motoring section. I'm not quite sure what part of 'non-motoring' is unclear.

Hi, I'm starting off as a sole trader (having worked at main dealers for the last 4 years).

They have online Experian HPi checks which are very comprehensive, offering CAP valuations, mileage records, etc.... Read more

HI. I have had a massive bill for a DSG box rebuild about 1000 miles after having the mechatronic board changed on the same car by a main dealer. The car is covered by a Warranty Direct warranty but they have refused to pay out saying the spigot bearing failing is 'wear and tear'. The car has done over 100,000 miles.

I am inviting views on:... Read more

It doesn’t take an hour to remove a mechatronic and possibly less to refit it. The oil will take up to an hour to get right level & temperature. The problem with many workshops is soon as they start the job on your car, they keep running the clock even whilst waiting on something such as drain oil, or run engine up to temperature to check gearbox oil level for example. I see this as wrong.

I wonder does anyone have views on the introduction ( in recent years ) of various cars

that have 3 cylinder engines ( some are normally aspirtated some are not )... Read more

We have two 3 cylinder Suzuki Altos - 09 and 12 reg - both are reliable and economical and for a 996cc engine have enough "oomph" for most types of motoring. Our 2012 one has just returned 63 miles to the gallon on a trip to and around Manchester.

Why would you want more cylinders?

When the car starts on any day there is a mild 'clunk' as it frst moves from first gear to second. Doesn't happen again until car is left for a long time or overnight. What is it and will it get worse? Why does it only 'clunk' once???

Grateful for any ideas. Gearbox is probably used in many other vehicles...... Read more

The first thing to do in most cases with auto gearboxes is to get the oil changed, plus filter .

That usually improves things in the majority of cases, but obviously depends how many miles and what sort of use your car has had.

HELP!
My battery went flat after my 'mate' left the interior lights on overnight and now I can't operate the radio.
It's a Ford 3000 Traffic and the serial number is M180308, but as the car is so old I don't even have the original owners manual and the back of the radio doesn't have the code scrawled anywhere. Can you help me please? Read more

Ford dealerships selling Vignale would have airline business-class like lounges and the cars would qualify for free washes for life.

I can see people queuing up for that one.....

A relative has recently died and we may have the chance of purchasing her car from the estate. Its a 57 plate 2008 Hyundai getz CRDi GSi diesel with about 12k on the clock. Good condition, fully serviced etc.
Having researched used car prices for this model, I believe it's worth about £4,500.

However as we are considering getting a cheap, small hatchback as a second car, I'm also considering the Kia Picanto 1.1 or a Hyundai i10. Both are cheap to run, tax and appear economical and might be more fun to drive than a Getz diesel. Plus many of the Kia's have lower mileage and still have a balance of their 7 year warranty.... Good point Skidpan. Thanks for the advice.

Don't get Bathtubs advice about not buying from a relative. Surely its the car that's important, not whom you're buying from? Anyhow the relative is dead as per original post and if we buy the car and it goes wrong we're hardly going to hold the 'family' to ransome over it!...
