Hi all
My current car is at the end of its company lease period, so I have been tentatively looking for a replacement that will give us some savings both in leasing costs, Benefit in kind, emissions & MPG.
A car of particular interest is the new Volvo D2. The manufacturer is claiming 81.3 MPG combined and 91.1 extra urban. This appears to be extremely good.
Does anyone own one, and could tell me what sort of MPG figures are being returned ? Read more

This type of comment just shows how stupid and uneducated most car buyers are....
Bought this car new 18 months back. In a lot of ways it is a great car, but I have had way too many problems.

Hmmm. Interesting reading. MY 2008 Octavia 1.9 is sat outside with another wheel bearing gone and 79000 miles on the clock. After our round trip of Europe, the gearbox is noisier than ever, with a whine in 4th and 5th getting louder in the last few thousand miles. Pretty certain it won't make 100K without major work. A string of spurious bulb messages is ongoing. The boot filled with water in the spring and now has the grommets removed to drain! Engine-wise it's great, it's the rest of the car that's letting it down. Honda or Toyota next, I've had Octavias since 2003 but this one's the last, unfortunately.
Had new (63 plate) for less than 48 hours (87 miles on the clock), had coolant warning light illuminate, spoke to dealer who suggested calling out the RAC. Patrol man filled up rad with water and pressure tested and found leak in "the system somewhere", Towed to dealership and advised that a stone had pierced the rad. Was advised that this is not covered by warranty !!
Anyone heard of this before or can offer advice please?... Read more
Given that Skidpan's replies were a> accurate and b>polite and the questionners obviously could not be bothered to read the terms of their insurance policies, I see no need at all for any apologies from Skidpan.

I am a self employed taxi driver, I bought a Renault Traffic 8 Seater for my business, it is only 17 months old and has a gearbox problem, it has been in the garage for nearly 2 months now because the part that is needed is on back order, I have been told that the part has arrived and it should be fixed soon. I have not been able to work for nearly 2 months. It is covered under warranty, but it has taken so long to get the part and to get fixed, I called Renault UK to ask for compensation, their reply is: they do not give out money compensation, the question is, do I have enough to take this to the small claims court? Would I win compensation? And if I lost would I be liable for their cost if they contested the claim and won? Read more
It is my experience that Renault UK Customer Services are very understanding in cases like this and very often provide a like-for-like courtesy vehicle if there is going to be a delay in a warranty fix. However, it's a bit late for that now.
You don't say whether you purchased the vehicle new or used, but any issue you have with the vehicle can only be taken up with whoever sold it to you, as it is with them that your contract exists. Renault UK provide a back-up warranty service for their products but you cannot sue them (unless you bought it from them) and they are, by the sound of it, fulfilling the terms of the warranty.

Looking for somewhere for two days at the end of this month. Anyone know if the residential areas nearby are no-go areas/unethical? Or shall I just book through parkatmyplace?

My post is about Dacia's pricing.
I recently went to a dealer to see the Dacia range and to see if they will suit our needs.
I asked the dealer if the prices I get on the website are the same prices I could get from them, or if there is a bit or room negotiating the price with the dealer. He did answer that dealer prices are the same as web prices since they want a blanket price, no ,matter where you buy it?... Read more
Works only if you're a cash buyer, otherwise there's still some haggling to do in respect of your PX...

If I were you I would take it to a diesel specialist, they are usually cheaper than a garage and know what they are doing.
