Knowing some dealers and x dealers contribute some very good advise to this forum, my question is, having ordered a new car from a dealer in the next county to mine would it be possible to register it on my county prefix instead the one from were the dealer is located.

Hi.

I have it would appear a faulty parking sensor. To buy from citroen £75+, online £20-30. Does anyone have any experience of these cheaper sensors, they have all the right details inscribed on them, part numbers, bosch made in spain etc etc. Unfortunately, also online you seem the same sort of thing offered for sale (bulk) from china. What I really want to know is if anyone has bought an ebay type sensor and if it worked. I don't condone counterfitting but really £75 for one sensor is ridiculous. Also it may turn out that some of the online sensors are genuine.... Read more

But these do look the same even down to the slightest moulding marks. Also the part numbers are the same on the body of the sensor. I've emailed bosch about authenticity but no reply. I just want to know if anyone has tried these. Its a well known fact that dealers prices are rather inflated, so its not beyond the realms of possibility that you could source genuine parts online at a better price.

p.s. In previous post I meant counterfeiting....

If it's the same as the earlier one, I replaced the transponder on it. £17 from Peugeot (106 and Saxo are identical) and fitted it myself. Fiddly. If you are not competent at DIT, it's a 15 minute job at a agrage - tops. So expect an hour's labour charge.

If you have had your car converted (as I did in 08) and you got a LPG Assoc Cert then these are now useless. ... Read more

I suppose its to be expected, just as everything else has moved online from insurance certificates to VED confirmation, once registered online you won't have any bother about certificates in the future.

I wonder if this has come to notice because some cheap fly by night operations got involved in LPG conversions, then vanished back from whence they came just as quickly, maybe some sub standard (cheap for a reason, possibly unapproved installers) installations have given cause for insurers to get involved....

Hope someone can help...

I bought a Rover 75 from xxxx in Dec 2011. The car looked great, he said it had been HPI checked and was not cat D. I stupidly believed him and didn't do my own HPI check. In Aug 2013 I decided to sell and get something newer. When I came to part-ex it, the new seller said, no - and did you know it is cat D? I was astonished and mortified, realising I'd been cleverly duped. The car does not look or behave like there's anything wrong with it but it seems cat D is like having the plague - I've had to drop the selling price by £1200 and still had no concrete offers. I've written to xxxx, asking him about it and threatening to tell Trading Standards (his website states all his cars are HPI checked). Is there any way I can get compensation, or at least tell the world that the man is a crook? He claims to be a family business - but does his family know that he's an unscrupulous crook? Feedback gratefully received. Read more

Name of dealer deleted. I'm sorry but we can't name and shame on a public forum like this if some of the comments are potentially libellous. Please read the site's policy in one of the 'sticky' threads shown at the top of the Motoring section.

I've recently bought a Mondeo, with the original radio/CD player. It's all working great (and sounds pretty good too) but I don't have any of the original documentation for the car, so I don't have the radio code should I need to disconnect the battery for any reason.

Does anyone know if there's a way to recover / access the code for the radio?... Read more

Thanks for that - I don't need it at this point in time fortunately but as I don't use my car very much I tend to get flat batteries during winter and need to charge from time to time! If I haven't replaced the stereo by then I'll get the serial number and post :)

My ford focus 2 litre 2005 diesel estate cars battery sense smart charging light (battery symbol) is illuminated as soon as I switch the ignition but does not extinguish when the car starts. The battery is fully charged. All fuses are have been checked & are okay. Any help would be appreciated. Read more

Have you changed the battery recently and did you fit the correct one. Smart Charge is quite fussy about what is fitted. Regards Peter

Big Bad Bob

Can anyone help with this one. I have an 1.8 Citroen Picasso which, if I rev sharply and quick, it will make a raspy rattle. But if the car is revved slowly, and steady, it doesnt make the noise. You get the same noise when driving but only at slow speed and low revs, but will drive through it. It usually does it after 5 minutes of running. It has had a recent service. Any ideas please. thanks. Read more

Hi yes it is petrol sorry forgot to say. it is a funny one because if you rev it nice and smooth it will not do it but if you do it shap swift rev it will sound like a raspy rattle like the old bob waights in the old cars when you was at low speed but put your foot down that's the only way i can describe
