Dunno if I see the point in most SUVs though.

The point is being able to see over the "road furniture" often placed before roundabouts to force drivers to stop needlessly. The point is to see over the increasing number of drivers who park on junctions in our over-populated little country. The point is to cope with the proliferation of potholes and roadhumps all over the place. The point is to have some chance of surviving a side-impact from another SUV driven by a dippy bleach-blonde married to a footballer who's just run a red whilst checking the state of her nail extensions....

Hi wondering if anyone can give me some advice, my car is registered to me fully comp insured for me and i have my son as a named driver as if i am not using the car i let him take it to work ~(he has full licence) this 'incident' occured on a sunday i was at home my son used the car to go to work, on way back he went to supermarket car park got some milk and came out, nothing strange in that well 4 days later i received a nip for failing to stop/report, dangerous driving, driving without due care attention ....at the car park ! my car is not damaged that i can see, i have been over it like a fine tooth combe i bought it as a four year old car so would have had tiny key scratches etc this was back in june, i filled out the form to say my son was driving, he also replied by email to the station saying i drove the car i was in the car park but not quite at the time they had put, he said he wasnt aware of making contact with any vehicle or anything else for that matter , and as for dangerous driving he said it is a car park with people walking around queuing to get out i couldnt drive dangerously. I am wondering has someone reported my car to the police well they must have some sort of witness they are going on as why would they send a random nip?

If someone 'thought' they saw something why in a queue of cars exiting the car park would someone not have tapped on the window and said er excuse me or something along those lines there would have been plenty of time its not as if he was speeding along a road somewhere.... Read more

In my opinion, it's your word against theirs and as they don't have any other witnesses I can't see how this is still dragging on.

And they wonder why public confidence in the police is at an all time low, shocking.

Hey. My work has recently relocated from central London to Milton Keynes and subsequently I've gone from using my car maybe once a week to driving 130 miles a day! I currently have a Peugot 206 (with various minor problems) and have been looking to buy something new for a while and this feels like the best time to do so. I know nothing about cars so would like some advice with what to look at buying? I'm told a diesel will be more economical with the long drives, I prefer a smaller hatchback type car and I have a budget of £5000-£6000, obviously looking to buy second hand. Any advice would be much appreciated! Read more

A Skoda Fabia Vrs with the 1.9TDi 130 engine would be a good bet. You can still pick up an 07 plate with a Skoda used car warranty from a dealership for a decent price.

As documented here the 130 engine is powerful, economical, a relaxing drive, and capable of huge milages, also no DPF to worry about.

Morning guys,

I am looking to replace the coil pack on my 407. I have seen them online for round about the £50/60 mark. Does anyone knows what the original part fitted by peugeot was, and if there is much difference in quality with that and the cheaper parts? Read more

My only comment here would be "buy cheap buy twice".The original part could be made by various companies.Possibly Bosch,Valeo ,Delphi. hth

Hi All,
I have a strange problem with a 2.0 petrol Espace III. Apart from the problem I'm about to outline, the car is running well for its age.
When driving the car, all seems well until I stop when the tickover rises to around 1800 RPM. Once in motion again, the problem subsides.
BIZARRELY, when the car is stationary and over revving by itself, if I 'floor' the clutch, (without engaging a gear), the engine revs return to normal.
Sounds weird and impossible, but it is what I'm experiencing.
The management light is intermittent, and no 'fault code' shows up.

The engine has been replaced, but the problem happened before the new engine, and continues with it.... Read more

My wipers have started to change speed when I brake. If they are on fast speed, theyg go to slow speed, if on slow speed, they go to intermittant. As soon as I start off again, they go back to what I set them at initially. Can anybody help?? Many thanks!! Read more

Had a closer look , it's defo not electric cable as its made of steel and is strong very strong cable. Can't be the front bonnet cable as that is located near the passer side and it can't be the back bonnet cable as that is located near the driver seat , this cable is located under the steering wheel ..

I think it could be The chalk cable just need someone to confirm that

Hi everyone.

I am thinking of replacing my tired vw polo (W reg 1.4) with a family owned MG ZR 115 bhp diesel. It has very low miles for a 2005 model (30,000) and has been very well looked after. Trouble is I have heard a great many bad things about the old MG/Rover cars over the years! ... Read more

SteveLee

As a diesel it will probably not be too bad, it was the petrol versions that suffered with the Head Gasket failures. That said its a Rover, well an MG badged Rover and its never going to be the greatest, smoothest car. The build quality was never the best but it depends what you want. The only other possible problem is obscure spare parts are very difficult to come by should you need anything out of the ordinary, I am led to believe that things like intercooler hoses and clutch arms were very scarce at one time, they may still be? If the price is right though it may be quite a decent buy.

I bought a 2008 ford focus zetec as a used car in 2011.
Unfortunately I wrote it off and the insurance company are querying the tinted windows.
How can I find out if they were as standard on that model or if they were added by a previous owner???
Any help would be much appreciated!!

If you go to Fordetis.com .Select vehicle look up and enter reg # or vin #.This should give you a complete build sheet from the day the car left the factory, hth

Hi All, blower only working on full so tried to buy a new ballast resistor from Ford to be told that I have to buy the whole motor at £200 plus as it can't be purchased separately. He seemed genuine enough but though I would ask for any opinions here and whether I have any other options?

Thanks.... Read more

Ok, thanks both. Pollen filter seems ok and airflow is fine. Fan seems to work ok, not noisy, starts ok etc. Given this I'm going to assume faulty part, initially at least.

Thanks for the advice.
